ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
CHINASKI is a literary character created by Charles Bukowski who was misanthropic, disillusioned and drunk. He only valued alcohol and the madmen and women in the world; and of course his typer. He lived to create and to illuminate the underbelly of Los Angeles, his L.A. Disgusted with the mundane and conventional people surrounding him, he left his readers with a cleansing honesty. This HONESTY is reflected in the music of this band.

On their debut CD, indie rock heroes CHINASKI deliver an infectious, signature album with crunchy low end guitars, interwoven bass lines, and highly active sinewy drumming. Combining the driving rhythms and guitar barrage of early 1990's alternative rock with a song writing style that often falls just to the left of mainstream sensibilities, CHINASKI has a simple approach to rock...that rock itself shouldn't be so simple. It's a place where they swing a little more and they rock a little harder.

"Stark, minimal, direct; the album kicks off with the power bass groove of "I Will." Immediately establishing the script for the album: intelligent lyricism, no-frills musicality, and a straight shot directly into the listener. "I Will" was recently featured on an episode of the TV show "The Gilmore Girls". This utilitarian aggregation has intriguing hints of jazz around the edges; the band has a propensity for unusual time signatures, unexpected rhythmic turns, and drop-dead endings. Standout songs include the neo-psychedelic "C.V.R.," enhanced by spoken word narration "This is your captain speaking," the singer intones, "I'll see you on the ground"; The jazz-inflected "Our Song" featuring a swampy breakdown; the stunning "Hollywood" - featuring a hypnotic, polyrhythmic pulse throughout, evoking the seamy boulevards lined with tattered palm trees and cold neon." - Dan Kimpel (Author & One of the American media's foremost authorities on pop music and songwriting)

Chnaski is siiick!
Soulful, honest lyrics. Hard hitting. A reverence to solid, clear guitar work. The songs are each unique and all grow and change as they unfold. And this is a first-CD band? Wow! Keep going!

These guys come, they kick your ass, they leave. Do it again fellas...
"I Will" is good from the get go. Killer beats, singer's got balls - no bullshit here. Elvis meets The Reverend. I can hear Led Zep in "Final Word". This guy can sing and understands just the right amount of attitude to add. The guitar player sounds like he takes his axe to bed every night. I wish I had the same command over the guitar. Its probably one of the best songs I've heard. These guys come, they kick your ass, they leave. Do it again fellas...

Refreshing and intelligent
The music is refreshingly different from the mindless crap heard on the radio today-great lyrics, makes you listen attentively to what's next.

Melisa

a tightly coiled gem!
Poignant lyrics, compelling beats, and a depth that rarely gets visited makes, YOU MIGHT LIKE THIS BETTER THAN ME, stand way out from the rest. I WILL demands to played really loud while driving with the windows down in the passing lane - while OUR SONG indulges in profound vocals and a beautiful guitar harmonies. Lush, original, brilliantly arranged!

Josh

soulfull simple rock tunes
I really liked the songs, the softer songs are what won me over. Well written and obviously inspired. Good simple music for the working class... nice work

Lubaski Records Inc

Lubaski Records Inc Found Chinaski ecentric and increditably ribiting
Through out the 22yrs of our company Lubaski Records, We
have never come across a cd so free flowing and yet hard core. This is truely unique by choice and by preference and
will in deed be the next wave of music sensation.

This Band Kicks Ass
This CD is a true original. The sound is unique and inspiring. My favorite, Effigy, jams and reminds me a bit of of Luna, another great band. It's worth a listen and I wouldn't be surprised to hear them on WXRT in Chicago someday. Simply, Chinarasky rocks! ALICE BLOSSOM, Chicago
