Often whimsical, sometimes angry, melody- and harmony-driven pop/rock -- from orchestral renditons of songs about platypuses, to horn-section-driven ditties about murderous crimelords, to touching tales of bald losers.

Album Notes

Oh sure, you'd like to hear that the story of the band called Chip & Drifty is glutted with the lurid extravagances of the rock-and-roll lifestyle. You'd just love that, wouldn't you? The truth is somewhat more subdued. For example, the last "wild and crazy" party we played also featured a yo-yo guy and friend of ours premiering a rather unpolished stand-up routine. But that, friends, is the understated magic of Chip & Drifty.

Chip & Drifty is David Levine and Tim Curran, not necessarily in that order -- then again, maybe in that order. Who's to say? David and Tim have been writing and performing music together for nearly 15 years, and have prided themselves on making nearly no money in that time, and garnering very little fame. But all that's about to change. And so we give you Chip & Drifty's latest album, "So Fine a Lady." Enjoy.

So Fine a CD
author: Bongo Ben
Wagnerian in scope, but lacking a peppery bite; it’s a sugary tour-de-force of pop confection wrapped in a blanket of self-righteous fury. It’s Chip and Drifty, baby, and it’s a mindjob of gargantuan proportions. Yeah, those are cheesy electroblips of faux bongos in “Baldwin” but what’s not to adore about everything else? It’s Marching ants. Fancy pants. A slit to the throat, daddy-o. Get this CD and you’ll find you’ll never again be detested or shunn’d by saunt an’ sinner; you’ll just feel a small and tall twitchin’ in your 17th chromosome as you ride off on a duckbill’s back-o’-fun.

"My these dwarfs are noisy", but GOOD! J.Curran

This is the best album since their last album. I think just about everyone can relate to 87% of the songs on this album. If you don't have one of the Chip & Drifty albums, you need to buy one now. If you have one, you should get a second. It's such a good album I bought a second copy just for my commute. It refreshes, energizes AND provides better gas mileage. Well worth every dollar and as entertaining as a box of kittens on catnip. Like Joe said, a full five pot pie rating, and not those 10 for a dollars ones either. I'm talking about the expensive one, you know the kind. Give Chip & Drifty a listen on their site, you'll be glad you did.

Awesome songwriting with great hooks makes this a great CD!

SFAL is how I was intoduced to Chip & Drifty. I only heard their live show after hearing the CD. If you've heard Chip & Drifty live, you'll get quite a different performance on this disc. Both are great, but the work that was put into this album really shines by the fact that I've listened to it dozens of times and still find bits of songs that I haven't heard before. It's got hooks and choruses that stick in your head all day long. I'd recommend this disc to anyone who enjoys good pop music. My personal favorite tracks are 3,5,8,9,12,13,15, and 16. I give So Fine A Lady 5 out of 5 turkey pot pies.
