Chip Wilkins announces the release of his long awaited CD. Chip a native of
Houston Texas, has resided in Philadelphia Pa. since 1997. He was formerly a
studio musician in Hollywood California in the 1970s and a contemporary of the
California singer songwriter movement. He is a veteran of the Austin music
scene, where in the 1990s he was a member of the highly in demand "New Cairo trio"
cafe jazz group. The CD is a collection of confessional songs written over
the years. His music is an interesting eclectic blend of acoustic folk, Jazz,
rock and contemporary styles.....
Who says that the singer songwriter concerns end at age 35. Chip Wilkins has
compiled a collection of songs that reveal the reflections of a generation
that has hardly faded to glory. A veteran of various musical camps, his "Songs
From The Couch"
Speaks to all those who will inevitably recall Life's changes, colors, turns
and exuberance............... 5 Stars

Wow! If you are weary of disposable muzak and shallow, pandering songs, then take heart. Here is truly music with heart, obviously written from real life and thoughtfully conceived. It is hard to categorize Mr. Wilkin\'s music, but that is the beauty of it. He doesn\'t write to satisfy a commercial niche. What you get instead is honesty that comes through unfiltered in every note and lyric. These songs touch something common to us all. I feel like I know this guy!

Chip and I have a long musical history begining in 1966. He has been my mentor and partner all these long years. He has a gift unlike any other. Listen to the songs in this album, over and over. The message of each percolates through one's awareness persistantly and subtly - hard won wisdom is present within each track. This is what art is all about.

In review of various literary forms, it has been said that no one ever really wrote the quintessential novel of the 1960's.In listening to Chip Wilkins' SONGS FROM THE COUCH, this CD could be it in musical form.
It is apparent that Mr. Wilkins' approac to music is an artistic one. His songs are creative, unusual, and not predicable. Although some songs are a bit long in nature, the CD, like a good novel:has a mystical feel to it and draws on in. This is a good CD to put the headphones on, get into bed and be transformed into a world that is passionate and reflective.
Mr. Wilkins exhibits a passion for good guitar playing. The songs are well crafted and creatively layered with guitar tracks and harmonic vocal reminiscent of the Beatles and Beachboys. In RAINBOWS AMONG THE CLOUDS, he observes a world that is stuck inapathy. In FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO SAVE, he exemplifies the idea that the torch has been passed.LIFE'S CHANGIN HUES is an artfulsong, that is as existential as Dylans IT ALL RIGHT MA ( I'm Only Bleeding)THE WORLD KEEPS GETTING IN MY WAY is a realization about one's own successes and failures.
Although 10 min. in length like a( SAD EYED LADY OF THE LOWLANDS) AND THERE WITH MY GUITAR is a pictorial song that is though sel indulgent, a colorful self realization trip through life as The Guitar Player. A good listen for any age group...... M.P. Poter
