CHIRAW, fusion of the words: chi and raw. Chi or Qi in its Chinese origin stand for: vital energy and raw just states the pure form of this energy thats filling the air when Chiraw takes the stage.

Formed and based in Overijssel, the Netherlands since January 2006, Chiraw tries to let their music be heard in every way possible. Setting in with their combination of heavy, energized, brutal riffs, industrial atmospheric samples, crystal clean melodies, killer shouts and ground pounding beats to energize the scene. Inspired by many artists and genres drove this quintet to create that of their own. Chiraw already claimed to be a high driven metal band, for after forming the band they worked their asses of writing material, rehearsing, adjusting etc. until 5 songs were finished. Then Chiraw immediately headed out to the studio to record their first EP: “Resurrection”. On this 5 track EP you can hear how each member just adds his own element to a song, making it sound like its supposed to be, as one massive energized machine. Now heavily armed with a full repertoire that’s still growing they’re storming the stage playing every pit, bar, club etc. to let their voice be heard. We are always writing new material, but nothing is as good as setting fire on stage!

All the live effort paid of when entering the Aardschok / Jägermeister Metal Bash competition in 2006. Chiraw won! The jury was unanimous and the modern metal of the five piece combined with their crushing live performance made Chiraw defeat all competition.

Chiraw hooked up with a new management and started writing for their debut album early 2007, doing a string of dates as well.
Their brand new effort “Dark Frequencies” is a monstrous metal assault stuffed with groove, melody and aggression. Recorded by Gerwin Bruins and Mixed by Jochem Jacobs (TEXTURES) the disc sounds as brutal as it gets! The album is scheduled for a fall 2007 release through a - yet to be determined - label. Chiraw is currently talking to several interested parties.
