ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Lines" was tracked, mixed and mastered over a 2 week period in the summer of 2011 at Western Carolina University. I am still amazed at what we were able to accomplish in this short amount of time. What you will find on the album is, hopefully, instrumental guitar music that is a little more "fun" and "listenable" than some others out there. My primary guitar influences are Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Mike Stern, Greg Howe, Pat Metheny, SRV, Robben Ford... well, there's a bunch, actually. But these are the guys I was thinking about when these tunes were coming together.

I was lucky enough to assemble some truly amazing players on the album, and all were given leeway to play what they wanted and stretch out whenever possible. The tunes pushed me, as well, to find a different approach for each solo, layer the guitars in creative ways, and get downright weird when the time was right.

I hope anyone that takes the time to dig into "Lines" will find things that they enjoy. It's tough to do something different in the instrumental guitar genre, especially if you're not really a shredder or a jazzer. My hope is to make music that finds a middle ground among the styles that I love, and maintain an original voice throughout. I'll let y'all be the judge.
