"No Words" is the latest CD by Chapman StickĀ® Soloist, Chris Crain. The two-handed string tapper presents twelve inspiring instrumentals, including seven original compositions. "No Words" is just that - lyric-free music. The styles of music offered on this collection include; bebop, smooth jazz, ballads, and an aggressive bass groove on the final track "Busy Body".
Staying true to his style, each tune has a distinctive melody. Although, "No Words" is more energetic than Chris' previous release ("Truth"), his style is still recognizable throughout this listening experience. Chris covers some of his favorite tunes, from some of his musical influences, including Pat Metheny's "Phase Dance", Carlos Santana's "Europa", and Vince Geraldi's "Linus & Lucy".
Chris' music has enjoyed radio-play on WorldMusicRadio.com, TheX.ca (Stick Show, The X 92.5FM, Canada), and UABC Radio 104.1FM in Mexico. Chris is the author of 'The Sticktionary' and 'Stick eLessons' - two instructional texts for the Chapman Stick. Chris also transcribed the tune "Tap Dance" for jazz musician and fellow Stick player - Steve Adelson. The transcription was published in the summer 2004 edition of the jazz magazine "Jazz Improv".
