The Chris Hunt Tentet +3 was formed in the spring of 2002 by leader, composer and trombonist Chris Hunt. The ensemble is made up of young, up and coming professional musicians and composers in the Toronto area.
Performing regularly in Toronto, the Tentet's repertoire showcases original compositions by Chris and other band members - borrowing elements of jazz, funk, classical and popular music. Live performances showcase the bands diverse and eclectic taste, performing works by jazz composers such as Wayne Shorter and John Scofield, to modern and popular composers Bjork and Radiohead.
The Tentet released a recording of original compositions in May of 2004 and will be releasing a live album in the fall of 2006. This exciting ensemble of 3 saxophones, 4 brass, 5 rhythm section players and a vocalist, blend styles and genres into a unique cohesive ensemble sound.
Composer, arranger, trombonist Chris Hunt is a graduate of the University of Toronto's Jazz Performance program. Chris works as a freelance musician in his native Toronto, in a variety of settings. Years of experience with brass quintets and musicals, big bands and smaller jazz ensembles have solidified Chris' reputation as a truly versatile performer and composer.
As well as teaching private students, Chris is also on faculty at Seneca College. In 2003, Chris attended the Banff International Jazz Workshop.
