Album Notes

Florida born Virginia native, Chris Kniss, has been singing all her life. Raised in the Mennonite Church tradition of 4 part a cappella singing, Chris has sang with several auditioned performing choirs, beginning in the Shenandoah Valley Children's Choir from 1993-2000. While a part of the SVCC, she was able to perform in Carnegie Hall, and for former President Clinton in the nationally broadcast Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony alongside Placido Domingo and Roberta Flack in 1997. Later, Chris joined the touring and chamber choirs at Eastern Mennonite High School for two years, which included a tour in China in the Summer of 2004. She started writing songs around the same time she picked up the guitar--somewhere between 2002 and 2003. Chris has independently released one solo album, which came out in August of 2004. Her music has been played all over the globe, and several tracks have won a handful of awards/distinctions in various public vote-determined contests. She has played many venues all over Harrisonburg, VA, as well as in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and even in Israel/Palestine, in Jerusalem.

Chris has taken somewhat of a hiatus from her performing to focus on finishing her BFA in graphic design but continues to write music and is looking to play more live shows in the Harrisonburg, VA area.

In the Face of it All is a great cd. It is only the beginning of a very promising career for Chris Kniss. All of the songs are well-written and well-sung, representing Chris' musical ability as well as her song-writing ability. A rarity in the musical world, this cd shows off an excellent singer as well as an excellent song-writer. Move over Jewel and Sarah McLaughlin. Here comes Chris Kniss!
