“All I really want, is to be listenable and write songs that people enjoy” – Chris Matty
Passion and Enthusiasm make great music. When you write a great song, you touch people on so many levels. In a nutshell, this describes me, a songwriter/producer with a flair for writing pop/rock songs. With influences like Live, John Mayer, 3 Doors Down, Fuel, July for Kings, Matchbox 20 and the Goo Goo Dolls, it’s not hard seeing why my music has a knack for being classified as melodic pop rock.
After spending a year at Berklee College of Music, I pursued music regionally back in New Jersey, playing with various bands, through out the tri-state area and cutting my teeth in various New York City studios. I honed my engineering and production chops, leading to better gigs, working with keyboardist David Rosenthal, (Billy Joel), and session drummer Jonathan Mover (Fuel, Joe Satriani) in their private recording studios. . I have had the privilege of working on some great projects like Billy Joel’s Movin Out on Broadway, and in the recording studio with some fantastic musicians like progressive rock’s Happy the Man, Matt Kramer of Saigon Kick, and drummer Chuck Burgi, who has played with Meatloaf and Enrique Igesias. I ran my own artist management and production firms, working with bands across the area in the rock, pop, and alternative genres.
"The Road Not Taken" invokes lost romance, happiness, growing up as a 20 something, and a new twist in rock music. Self-Produced and Mixed, this CD pops and cracks with hit after hit. Chris seamlessly merges pop with a modern rock flair. With textured guitars and a driving rhythm section, the music lays the foundation for Jeff Mosier soaring vocals. The result is a fantastic blend and original sound that demands repeated listening.
Music is personal. Check out the ballad ‘What If Tomorrow Never Came’. “I wrote this song about my cousin Jill, who passed away at the age of 22 from cancer. It is an emotional rollercoaster of a song. When I handed Jeff the music and lyrics, he immediately was able to latch onto the emotion, because his father had passed away in the same month as Jill, 2 years apart. This song also features my brother Greg Matty on keyboards, making it a very special song in many ways."
I have my own 48 track Pro Tools studio that enables me to work in any capacity. I am always looking for a new band, artist, or venture to pursue. Why? Because this is my love, and my passion.
