Chris Orrock has been writing songs, singing and playing guitar since age 14. Under the early tutelage of rockabilly pioneer, Link Wray, Chris Orrock developed his own songwriting and instrumental directions and has since performed primarily as a solo artist and with his band, The Bleeding Roses . His music is literate, tuneful and evocative. His songs, worth your time.
"This is the music you take along with you, it's stories and it's melodies. Listening to Orrock, the listener is repeatedly rewarded."- Jan Stepworth, eMusicReview, 2010
"Chris Orrock is a rockabilly force who is shaking the Salt Lake Scene like an earthquake. Though he has played in many successful bands, his solo work has lurked quietly...until recently. His driving songs have received airplay and critical acclaim, and he placed second in the venerated Susanne Milsaps Performing Songwriter Showcase in 2011. " Jen Hajj, KRCL Community Radio DJ, 2011

A stunner...
author: Mark Weeks
It's a little hard to describe all the things I like about this recording because it conjures up feelings that are hard to get a grip on; it resonates inside.
I like the "Buddy Holly meets Woody Guthrie" song: "Alone By Me." I hear echoes of Gordon Lightfoot in 'Hurricane.' I love the song titled, 'Someone Like You.' It's my favorite, so far, on this album. Matching a cello with that harmonica is genius. This song could catch fire. I like the song that reminds me of the Soggy Bottom Boys, 'CARRY ME DOWN.' 'Ballad Of Jenny Kim is cool like Dylan's, 'Jack Of Hearts.' And, I can just hear the pick-up trucks pulling into a shit-kickin' bar in Bakersfield in the line dance boogie number, 'Cowboy Blues.' Some of these songs create feelings that drift around and through you. There's even a stunning sitar on 'Mockingbird.'
The writing and production are excellent, as are the musicians and arrangements. This is a pretty broad look at genuine North American musical styles (not counting the sitar), but it stands on it's own very well. This is good stuff. I really like this album. -Mark Weeks, SLC Utah
