ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
New England female fronted group, Christa Renee Band, released their first EP “For the People” in April 2011. Called "one of the best local albums in 2011" by the Hippo Press, "For the People" was recorded at Indiefair Studios out of Londonderry, NH in October 2010 and mixed and mastered there in December 2010, the six song album encompassing Latin, rock, dance, reggae, afro-funk, Soca and jazz, and any genre that gets you out of your seat and dancing. It has been called "an insistently danceable effort propelled by a strong Latin backbeat with elements of reggae, soul and punk echoes from Lene Lovich and the Clash" by Michael Witthaus. It is the culmination of a year of all the right pieces finally falling into place. CRB, made up of Christa Renee (vocals/guitar/songwriter), and seasoned musicians, Pete Gustafson (bass), Jeff Costello (drums, backup vocals), Josiah Erikson (keys) and Michael Ryan (percussion), started with a craigslist ad. By April of 2010 all the current members of CRB came together and knew they were onto something special. After a number of shows in the New England area including VT, NH, MA and CT, CRB put up another craigslist ad to find someone to record their unique sound. After sitting down and meeting with Art Murphy and Scott Orlosk of Indiefair they knew they found the right place.
Expanding on the niche created by The Police, Michael Franti and Spearhead, The Clash and similar artists the band takes caribbean influences and infuses it into their music only with a female voice which is uncommon in this genre. Band songwriter, Christa Renee, writes her music first as a way to channel her emotions and observations of the world and next as a way to connect with people. She decided on the title “For the People” because of this dedication to reaching everyday people with her music and words. Tracks from the EP have already been heard on Soulful Tears Radio, Voodoo Brew, Unregular radio, Portsmouth Community radio, Homebrew (99Rocks). CRB is hoping to expand to more radio stations including independent and college stations and continue playing throughout New England.
