The eight original songs contained on this album are delivered with exceptional musicianship and passion. From the African Rhythms and biting lyrics of “Wasting My Time” to the contemporary rock feel of the title track “I”, the listener is immediately introduced the spectrum of music offered on this CD. The project continues with “Mirror”, a blues crossover song that exemplifies the artist’s range of vocal styling, reminiscent of early Mississippi Delta Blues performers. The open feel of “The One Thing” is the CD’s light and playful offering, while “Whatever” and “The La-La Song” display a unique mix of wistful melodies with emotional lyrics. Finally, the two ballads “Crush” and “Nothing” truly reflect the blend between Christina’s musicianship and artistry. Both contain haunting melodies and emotional Dylanesque lyrics delivered with a heartfelt dynamic vocal performance.
