Album Notes

I met Benji Rogers at Music Nova Scotia Week in 2010 and learned about his company PledgeMusic (www.pledgemusic.com). PledgeMusic helps independent musicians get funding and gain promotional support to deliver music to fans, at the same time raising money for charity. Benji’s passion, and our sing-along-sessions at the Grand Rodd Hotel in Yarmouth, made me want to get involved with PledgeMusic.

People have been asking me for years whether I had an album that reflected my acoustic performances. I really love rocking out with my band, however it is not a luxury I can often afford. House Concerts (where people invite me to perform songs in their home for their guests) have fueled my music career since I began singing in Austin Texas (2002). These intimate and exciting listening venues have kept me on my toes as a performer and continue to fuel my passion for creating and performing. I have a deep sense of gratitude towards House Concert supporters.

In January 2011 Dale Murray and I decided we would transform our Home Studio into a thirty seat House Concert Venue to record this live album of songs from my first three albums: Pretty Things (2002), Two Hearts (2008), I Can Too (2010). We worked with PledgeMusic to raise a modest budget to record the album and deliver it to our listeners in a timely fashion. Pledges came in from all over Canada and as far away as Germany, Japan, and United States. A small portion of the money raised via PledgeMusic.com was donated to The Canadian Mental Health Association Halifax/Dartmouth Branches to support their social programs.

This House Concert (Recorded on July 6, 2011) was a really special night for Dale and I. We hope we captured the essence of what our House Concert sounded like.
