About Christina

26-year-old Tasmanian harpist-singer Christina Sonnemann is one of Australia’s most diverse young professional performers.

In the words of Her Excellency the Australian Ambassador to Paris, Penelope Wensley AO, who invited her to present a concert at the Australian Embassy in Paris in 2007, Christina “has a particular gift for captivating an audience, for creating an atmosphere, for sharing her emotions”.

Among Christina’s achievements are five self-produced albums, solo recitals in London, Paris, Copenhagen, Jersey, Ireland, Norway, Malta, the United States and Canada, a national broadcast on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Classic FM and an award from the Australian Songwriters’ Association.

Christina’s original compositions reflect varied and vibrant influences and are frequently inspired by the wilderness landscapes of her remote island State of Tasmania. Christina was one of a select group of musicians invited to represent Australia at the world’s largest Celtic festival, the Festival Interceltique Lorient, in France in 2006.

Christina is a sought-after and dynamic teacher who has been invited to conduct workshops and masterclasses for the American Harp Society, the Harp Society of Queensland, the Jersey Harp School, the Clarsach Society (London Branch) and the Australian Harp Festival.

Christina is the President and Founder of the Harp Society of Tasmania, Inc, and Australian Correspondent to the World Harp Congress Review.
