Album Notes

Natural Instincts (CD only - 75 min.) released by Pianist/Composer Christopher Boscole. This acoustic jazz collection of standards and originals features the jazz-jazz side of his musical personality. "It's a piano trio effort most of the way and especially effective on If I Should Lose You , I Hear a Rhapsody, Over the Rainbow, Dolphin Dance, Lament, and We Will Meet Again." Three Seattle horn players (Denney Goodhew, Jay Thomas, & Gary Shutes) add extra dimension on four additional selections, all Boscole originals...cookin" (Oregon Jazz Scene) "Delivers straight ahead jazz with excellent results... the music brings smiles to your face." (Chris Lunn) "Melodist, improviser, composer, ensemble player...he's a mature musician who has wisely followed his Natural Instincts." (Jim Wilke, Jazz After Hours-American Public Radio)

Sweet!
author: Chuck Crawford
I had never heard of Mr Boscole until I listened to him here at CD baby. I took a “flyer” as they say, based on a quick listen and oddly, the beautiful cover art. Having listened to this CD several times through, I can tell you that I hit the bulls eye. This is exactly the type of piano jazz I love. It swings, it’s mellow, it’s inventive. Mr Boscole is fine a musician and the support players are first rate. I particularly loved the horns. Great arrangements. First check out what he’s done with the old chestnuts, Over the Rainbow, I hear A Rhapsody, We Will Meet Again, then listen to his own fresh compositions, particularly the title track and Tone Poem. Sweet jazz!
