Album Notes

For Chris' bio, see information on his "Beyond...See Beyond" album, also with CD Baby.

No one can deny the intensity that is building within the world in whatever direction one looks: our economy, ecological issues, wars and international tensions, etc., etc., and closer to home in our everyday relationships and challenges. It is so critical to take time daily to step out of the “rat race”, to re-align with whoever you believe your Creator is, to find the peace within yourself, and to look at resolving issues that distract you from living the life you dream of. Songs were chosen for this album to help us do just that.

In the first seven minutes of the album Chris blends a chant "The Veil is Lifting", written by him, into an adaptation of a traditional Neapolitan chant - "Jesce Sole" - by John La Barbera and Alessandra Belloni from their folk opera "Stabat Mater". Chris was fortunate enough to perform the role of Jesus in this opera at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York in 1998. This first track is truly one of the most powerfully uplifting spiritual chants I have ever heard sung by Chris and overtoned with his rich harmonies

When life gets tough in the outside world, too often we spin more out of control within our immediate environment. Why is it that we often tend to feel that it is OK to let out our frustrations on those we love who are closest to us?! Past wounds from childhood and other unresolved relationship issues CAN be resolved by forgiveness, which can truly “wipe the slate clean” when expressed sincerely. Not always an easy thing to do, but perhaps this beautifully potent song that Chris wrote, "To Forgive", can be used to send to someone or for personal inner reflection. Hope it works for you!

Another relationship issue – insecurity. Written for a dear one, "Always My Love" lovingly reassures the listener that the love was always, and will always, be there.

Life can be too serious! Chris ends the album with an upbeat and positive focus on the "New Beginnings" we can attempt to start every new day with. Enjoy your journey!

Chris’ whole songwriting career has focused on observing, and writing songs about, the highs and lows of our “human journey” – our relationships, personal and global. If there is a particular situation that you would like some insight on, feel free to email us and we could probably find a song relating to the issue to share with you – lyrics at the least!
