notes

Wholly sheep shit! You have wandered into the CD Baby incarnation of CHUB, the world's first and foremost pioneer of Ding-Dong Rock. Thanks for stopping by.

Our zygote hopped the petri dish lip in 1997, powered by the pants ants and adventure associated with Zappa's concept of the "damaged musician" -- meaning, we were fed up with all things musically conventional. Prior to combining, we rubbed shoulders independently with the likes of Primus, Metallica, Fungo Mungo and Cherry Poppin Daddies, and played in bands of our own that pushed the perimeters and spiked the punch. From those associations, we've learned plenty and milked much. Chub's sprung as a result of throwing what we like into a blender -- five brains' worth of anti-matter -- and recording the sound of the goop headed toward the kitchen walls. We strive to be musical cookie batter -- raw, a bit questionable, and plenty palatable. Ding-Dong Rock, in the parlance of the times.

So, your ears will most likely sense various influences, all of which we're proud to admit to: Beck, Bowie, Primus, Soul Coughing, The Police, Ozomatli, Talking Heads, They Might Be Giants, Prince, Smashmouth, George Clinton and P-Funk. We're big on rhythm and percussion and ass shaking and sweating and sampling and convulsing and not giving a shit and tolerance and cutting loose and sex and Mac-n-Cheese and goofer. And we've got plenty of experience between the five of us to put it all together properly, although you'll be the ultimate judge of that, particularly if you make it out to a show sometime.

This album -- Everfloppin Nonstopper -- is the first snapshot of where we've gone; where we're headed is already on its way. Let us know what you think; and buy a record if you dig it, what the hell what the hell.

Thanks for reading and listening. This is your opiate signing off.

Great Album. Saw them preform in concert at the voodoo lounge in SF and was pleasantly surprised. They sound great and their CD shows this.

Every single song gets me fired up ... I find myself singing at the top of my lungs constantly! ... I suggest listening to the CD nonstop until you know every word ... then go to a show and sing your lungs out once again! ... Nothing compares to that feeling!!!!

  • Fresh and Tasty, Humid and Pastey, The stuff of legends!

It reminds of simpler times and the happiest of days. Its energy and comedic timing. One thinks of Oingo Boingo and the Talking Heads. Modern yet historical...this needs to be in everyone's ears. You can dance to it or smoke many a hookah blast on it. Every song compliments the previous. I've found that it suits and pleases all ages and styles. Get it!
