Barrelhouse Chuck's blues piano playing is filled with heartfelt soul, high energy, and low down greasy blues. His loyalty to carry on the works of legendary players of the past, like Leroy Carr, Little Brother Montgomery, and Sunnyland Slim, also contributes to his style. This disc also includes three duets with Erwin Helfer, another Chicago blues piano master. Erwin and Chuck have a great relationship and their duets highlight their special collaboration. After listening to this disc, you'll agree that Barrelhouse Chuck has truly earned his own place among the Chicago blues piano masters.

Superb piano blues
author: Ron Weinstock
I remember when we at the D.C. Blues Society presented Barrelhouse Chuck with local blues artists Mark Wenner and Ben Andrews. He was supposed to have recorded an album at the time but it never was released. Thankfully we have this absolutely wonderful disc by a man who was mentored by legends like Sunnyland Slim and Little Brother Montgomery and the lessons he learned from these giants are evident in his strong playing that evokes the great piano blues of the past and his own vocals. Nice mix of material that includes classics associated with them and others like Leroy Carr. This release is evidence that Chuck is amon the finer living blues pianist
