Chuck Anderson is an anointed saxophonist, composer and band-leader, who is as versatile as he is humble.
Anderson attended college on a music scholarship, mastering the soprano, alto and tenor saxophones. After graduation, Anderson began playing and performing nationally in acclaimed musicals such as: Jesus Christ Superstar; Fatback and Collard Greens; and Five Guys Named Moe.
He continued developing his style, which some liken to John Coltrane and Kirk Whalum, as a featured soloist and band-member, playing with talented musicians such as: Claude Johnson, Roger Boykin, Robert Sanders, Freddie Jones, John Saunislos, and Bruce Mendosa. He has accompanied renowned vocalists C. C. Rice, Sandra Kaye, and the late Jeanette Brantley as well as occasionally performing with The Journeymen and The Chuck Anderson Jazztet. He has recently performed in Jackson, Mississippi on the Exclesisa Gospel Showcase and finished a taping for the television program Insights on KDFW Fox 4 in Dallas, Texas.
Most Sunday mornings find Anderson at the Christian Chapel Temple of Faith Church in Dallas, Texas, where he fills the sanctuary with jazzy-gospel and contemporary Christian selections. When he’s not sharing his talent at church, Anderson teaches saxophone to grade school children. He also continues to play and perform at parties, churches, showcases, and festivals around the country.
The Gospel Music Workshop of America already recognizes Anderson’s talents and with the release of his first CD, Walk With Me, others will join in the applause. Walk With Me presents Anderson’s ability to blend jazz, gospel and blues in a way that enriches the soul and stirs the heart. It is sure to establish him as one of the most promising composers and artists of the new jazz/gospel era and catapult him to the rank of national artist.
