notes
At age 13 Chuck followed in his father’s musical footsteps by cutting his own trail with an old acoustic guitar purchased from a pawn shop. After three months of lessons, Chuck began playing on a Sunday afternoon radio program transmitted from a local AM station.
During his early musical career, he performed over 800 shows on various radio programs and throughout the Carolinas, culminating in a seven year weekly stint at an award winning restaurant chain and other regular stints of four and one year in length at two other well established locations.
He studied music at the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusetts and later received degrees from three colleges and universities.
As a band leader, Chuck led a contemporary service at one of the largest congregations in the Carolinas for three years. Recording numerous albums with country & gospel groups along with an individual rock-a-billy effort and his latest pop rock release, Chuck has played in various musical productions and groups ranging from big band and rock, to acoustic and instrumental.
Chuck continues to sing, write, and record story type lyrics individually and with groups across the Carolinas, performing about 50 to 100 concerts a year. He has performed live nearly 1,500 times throughout his career. During the day, he instructs college courses online with a national university and in person at a community college.

Slick but comforting...a solid set...This swings and makes you smile
author: Music Emissions: Mike WoodSlick but comforting, kinda like Chris Isaak without some of the depth, Brimer makes happy rockabilly with ease. This is a solid set that won’t set you to brooding, but his arrangements are sharp and familiar, and bound to sound great live. You may miss a little grit in the 4/4,but you can rock out with Chet Atkins-like sheen and ringing notes. Brimer’s jumpy guitar keeps the tunes from descending into a pop. Eagles-ish blandness, and his vocal twang is genuine. The ballads, carried by Nathan Gray on piano, are the highlights for me, as are “Red Headed Girl” and “Broken and Bruised.” Call this Family-oriented honk-tonk, and call that a compliment. This swings and makes you smile, and if it doesn’t change your world, it at least may make you glad for a minute that you are still living in it.
Catchy Tunes
author: Mark Waterbury "Music Morsels"Gastonia, NC’s Chuck Brimer seems infused with the souls of Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins. Singing like Roy without the high pitched croon and rocking like Carl with country flavors, Chuck maintains an edginess that is reminiscent of Jason and the Scorchers albeit less heavy and more twangy. This is highly entertaining music blending catchy tunes with energy and pure songwriting and performing talents.
Brimer's music can not be summed up in one word or phrase.
author: Ben Dungan "Gaston Alive"Brimer's music can not be summed up in one word or phrase. Once you think you have figured the answer out, he changes the questions on the next song. Is he rockabilly or honky-tonk? Is a tender balladeer or a rock ‘n roller? One thing I do know is that Brimer writes pop music - - but not just any pop music. I call it smart pop. Writing smart pop music takes a lot of skill. It goes way beyond finding a catchy hook. Brimer finds a way to weave intelligent well-crafted lyrics into his melodies and instrumentations to create infectious catchy tunes that you'll be humming long after you are finished listening to his record. However, the bottom line is that this is a fun record. Brimer won't leave you feeling down. With all of the negative news floating around each day, we all need a record that will pick us up after a bad day. Brimer has created that kind of record. And that in itself makes Chuck Brimer my hero.
Each of the 13 songs are gems unto themselves.
author: The Big Kahuna"I'm Gonna Be Your Hero" has become a fast favorite of mine. It's been spun in at least three of my five CD players, and more than once in my car. If you like a little country in your rock, or a little rock in your country, this album is definitely worth it. Alternating tracks of driving rhythm with tracks of mellow sounds, this album is bound to please.By the end of the second track, Brimer has left us with no doubts that we are in good hands. Some of the songs... just had me smiling and laughing at the clever and marvelously funny pictures they paint. Others...left me with a pleasant melancholy I've not felt since I first started dating.... it's hard to pick a favorite track. Each of the 13 songs are gems unto themselves.
The more I hear the CD, the more I like it.
author: The Charlotte ObserverWhen I popped the CD in my car player for the first time last week, I didn't know any of the songs. I just went with the flow of music as I rolled down Interstate 85. The number I found myself singing along with turned out to be "Red Headed Girl." The more I hear the CD, the more I like it. I played it again on the way to work this morning: A couple of tunes are still floating around in my head. ...He's got the gift, and one way or another he'll use it.
Excellent rock CD. Pick up a copy today!
author: RadioIndy.com staff"I'm Gonna Be Your Hero" is an excellent rock CD that has a rootsy 50s/60s rock and roll feel to it. The CD highlights Chuck's excellent songwriting along with top notch musicianship and production. "Misty Moon" has the feel of a classic Van Morrison song. "Til There was You," will remind you of your favorite 50s love songs. "Summer" is another one of our favorite songs. It is a feel-good, toe tapping song with a hook-filled chorus. If you enjoy artists such as Van Morrison, Mitch Ryder, and Bob Seger you'll enjoy Chuck Brimer's "I'm Gonna Be Your Hero." Pick up a copy today.

Quite refreshing and classy!
author: Michael Mardings www.thecelebritycafe.comChuck Brimer - I'm Gonna Be Your Hero - Dear Chuck, The album cover is too busy and hides the full nature of your musical diversity. Your stylings are somewhat reminiscent of the “50’s Vegas” which is quite refreshing and classy. The lyrics are clean and clear in meaning and content. You seem to be at your best in the relaxed layback tones of “Misty Moon” yet the versatility of your voice is apparent in the bluesy “I’m Gonna Be You Hero.” I look forward to seeing you in a full blown stage presentation where your arrangements can be exemplified by showgirls, scenery and you, presenting yourself just as you are. Chuck Brimer's latest CD is powerful and super!
author: Review by Richard J. Lynch for Kweevak.comCHUCK BRIMER – I'M GONNA BE YOUR HERO: Well, North Carolina native Chuck Brimer just might be your next musical hero. This CD contains a baker's dozen worth of hot and fresh tracks that have been cooked up by Chuck and his fine band using an eclectic recipe of rock, country, pop and rockabilly. At time's Brimer sounds like a combination of John Mellencamp, Darius Rucker, Southside Johnny, Jon Bon Jovi and Brian Setzer. Brimer should follow the coast up to Asbury Park because his blue collar rock would fit in nicely with the legendary Jersey shore sound and scene. Chuck's band members span a 50 year age difference and the tunes on the CD reflect musical highlights from the 50's to present day. Infused with 50's rock, 60's style R&B and good old rock and roll I'm Gonna Be Your Hero could be your first lesson in rock history on CD-ROM. 'Still In Your Heart' is an R&B ballad that has got a lot of soul and will remain in your head - a Jersey shore sound in that Eddie and the Cruisers vein. 'Summer' is a joyous rocker that would be great to see performed live in the warmer months! The title track ventures a bit into in your face psychedelic rock with Chuck seeking a heroine to play opposite his hero role. Brimer's song writing reflects a personal journey and he calls the disc a musical collection of happiness, joy, sadness, pain, and woe - all wrapped up in an album that rocks more often than not. Chuck Brimer's latest CD is powerful and super! • Recommended Tracks: (5,6,7) [USA/NC 2006 - web] (2006 Review by Richard J. Lynch for Kweevak.com)

It's AWEsome! Love the horn parts, especially the last solo!
author: Keith BThe lyrics on Red Headed Girl, & Hero, are poignant beyond belief! This album is great for road trips, study sessions, ...well, whenever you listen to good music!
Great vocal, sounds a little like Sting.
author: Alexis StevensA My Space friend turned me on to a couple of the songs on this CD. The vocal sounded so good I ended up getting it and I luv it that much more. The vocal fits the music very well, great combo. I like it allot, it's too country for rock and too pop for country, I dig that sound. Can't wait foe the next one to come out. My favorite song is Chuck Brimer's "Misty Moon". I hit play and the repeat button and just cruise on down the road.
"Hero" is a great mix of country, pop, jazz, & rock, super songs.
author: gremlin 407Listening to "I'm Gonna Be Your Hero", one gets the sense of an accomplished artist in his prime, cranking out top notch tunes that will be enjoyed for years to come. There was only one song on this whole CD that I didn't particulary care for and that was because it reminded me of a middle school teacher I once had. The sounds on this CD are somewhat hard to classify as they are sometimes country, sometimes pop, rock, and at other times jazzy. Quite a blend, one to be enjoyed. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a whole hearted 9.4 with gas left in the tank. Over and out, Gremlin 407
