Chuck Nation displays his amazing fiddle prowess and creativity with songs and arrangements that range from traditional to contemporary. He has won numerous awards and contests throughout the South including the Louisiana State Fiddle Championship. He currently plays fiddle with Curtis Blackwell & The Dixie Bluegrass Boys, as well as being the go-to sideman for several other groups.
On this CD Chuck is joined by banjo great Gary "Biscuit" Davis, the only 3-time winner of the Winfield National Banjo Championship and former bandleader for Dolly Parton. Gary is a mainstay at the Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, TN. Also included is Charles Wood on banjo, 2-time Winfield National Banjo Champion who played with Steve Martin and "Men With Banjos Who Know How To Use Them." 14 songs in all, with a variety of breakdowns, bluegrass, waltzes, showtunes, reels, and rags.
Chuck was a member of Louisville, Ky.’s legendary contemporary bluegrass group, The Bluegrass Alliance, whose alumni include folks like Sam Bush, Vince Gill and Tony Rice. He has played at most every major bluegrass festival, has performed across the U.S., Europe, Japan, Alaska, Canada, and at such prestigious venues as the Grand Ole Opry, the New Orleans World’s Fair, and the Savannah Music Festival. He has played at college campuses, festivals, churches, theaters, clubs, state fairs, village squares, and on street corners to audiences as small as one and as large as 90,000. Chuck has worked on TV and radio, as a studio musician, traveled extensively with various professional groups, and opened shows for a diverse list of folks including Ernest Tubb, Mother Maybelle Carter, Mac Davis, John Hartford, John Anderson, etc. He has shared the stage and played with Bluegrass luminaries Bill Monroe, Mac Wiseman, Sam Bush, Vassar Clements, Buck White, Dan Crary, Byron Berline, Allen Shelton, and many others. www.chucknation.net
