The a-side's Arabic tinged angst and in-your-face vocals over off rhythms smash senses like a Lake Erie storm. Lyrics on the B-side skip along an asphalt two-chord highway. The power they exhibited live, when I saw them last year, hasn't been lost on vinyl. Nice work, Chump.

Cool eight song ditty; where heavy riffs explode into power chords, and singer Mike's multi-voiced stylings retain a sense of melody through his rough and tumble delivery. Up tempo numbers like "Mark" could be Nuggets outtakes, while others, like "Wishful Thinking", plug along like a fog shrouded freighter on the Cuyahoga. Muscle guitar from Melvis, with a hard charging rhythm behind accentuate the hooks and lyrics of this ever improving C-town quartet.

Hailing from Cleveland, OH this foursome must have been infected with the bug of home-state heroes like Afgan Whigs, Guided by Voices, and the Breeders. Not that they sound like these bands, but rather that they kick ass without being pretentious. Musically, they are more in line with Jon Spencer Blues Expolosion and Sonic Youth, ripe with singer Mike's dirty vocal attack and guitarist Melvis' wicked solos. Sometimes, Mike's eerie vocal work can send a chill up your spine. Even though indie rock has slowly faded out of the limelight, bands like Chump will always keep the cause alive.

Chump return with another fix of music for everyone who's hungry for their unique style of angst driven hypnotic songs. "Recall" hammers with a cool guitar groove that's intense that goes with their edgy sound. It has a haunting sound mixed with a bit of terror like a bad nightmare. "Cat Walking" will also put you into a trance with it's hypnotic and addicting sound. An excellent bass line and simple but effective guitar work build into a nice guitar solo that is a lead in for the chaos that follows. This music is a must. Chump will keep you addicted over and over again. If it sounds like I said this before, I just said it again! Get it! -mr. bill, Tab, Cleveland
