Album Notes

Ciara (celtic pronunciation hard "C") was born in Niagara-on the Lake, to Irish parents who immigrated to Canada in the late 1960's. Their sense of exploration and love for travel has had an enormous influence on Ciara as an artist. As a result, after studying Opera at Queen's University in Canada, she attended the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England, to study acting. This in turn took her to Belgium, Spain, Italy, France, Denmark, China, Mongolia and or course Ireland. Each of these places has had an influence on her and introduced her to a different cultural expression; this is reflected in her choice of material and her original music. In 2004, Ciara self-produced her debut CD, Ciara Adams-Live at Le Select Bistro, on her label Decadent Rare Records, this CD was formally released at the 2005 Toronto Jazz Festival at Le Select Bistro on July 2nd and 3rd, where Ms. Adams played two sold out shows.
Her new record, Last of the Bohemians produced by Tim Abraham at the Hive Studios in Toronto, combines her love of cabaret, with an influence of pop, electronica, and contemporary groove creating a captivatingly original style. Her original music flows meticulously with soaring covers of the French chanson La Bohémé made famous by the great Charles Aznavour, and an original arrangement of the famous hit song Chan Chan by Compay Segunda, made famous by the Buena Vista Social Club . What out for it on CD Baby in January 2008- HERE FIRST! Then formally released on February 28th 2008 at Lula Lounge in Toronto, for tickets go to www.lulalounge.ca
