Cinema Braille combines multiple genres and disciplines of music with sound design and recording skills to deliver a fantastic, multifaceted performance to be appreciated on many levels of listening.
The music of Cinema Braille defies description as adamantly as it defies genre guidelines. It brings together the musical disciplines of all times and places, fusing them together in a grand unification of the commonplace and the esoteric. A celebration of all sound, it brings together what is known to a babe's ear and what was never heard, even by the old. Like a film score to itself, the music conjures up images and stories unique to each of us and takes the listener on a journey to the farthest universes of the mind,as long as the mind is kept open. Like writing in Braille, it gives us a way to see what we can not.
Cinema Braille's debut album, Blank Screen is comprised of three sections. The first is a three-part composition, titled "Bondage." It takes the listener through a time-traveling experience of the pain of imprisonment, the longing for freedom and the despair and final redemption of the hopeless. The second is the Ferrous Suite, which speaks of the bonds of friendship and the tests of fate. The third and final section is a short farewell piece to the land of snow, birch and white nights.

EXTRAORDINARY NEO-SYMPHONIC EPIC!
author: Cy Borgski
Cinema Braille’s “Blank Screen” is a unique, eclectic, even revolutionary musical omnibus which defies easy description. It covers many genres and engages many disciplines, and plays at times like the grand soundtrack to some magnificent unseen film. (There are even some patches of “real sound” which evoke the narrative conceits of classic dramatic film.) A large portion of the piece relies on familiar, yet never generic, new-age space music; yet just when you least expect it, the soundscape explodes with classic rock-guitar licks, and turns into something akin to a Pink Floyd or The Who rock-opera. Further down the road, we encounter some terrific old-school computer music, punctuated with strikingly crisp percussive interludes. After a cute little intermission, “Blank Screen” wraps things up with “Ferrous Suite,” a thoroughly accessible ambient piece, softer but not without drama, by far the most thematic segment of the album. The album concludes with “Farewell the Birch,” a sweet and affecting new-age coda reminiscent of Tangerine Dream’s “Zeit.” Overall, “Blank Screen” is a masterful neo-symphonic epic, painted on a large canvas and boasting the charm and drama of a sweeping orchestral work. The mood swings from whimsical to forboding, the orchestration from simple to voluminous, and the end result is an impressive work of far-ranging scope, one which does indeed evoke the curious, singular psyche of the cinema. Bravo!
