Album Notes

Giuseppe Antonio Capuzzi (1755-1818) was a virtuoso violinist, an innovative composer, a master teacher, and he was called "The Orpheus of His Age" by his contemporaries. He wrote operas, ballets, concertos, and chamber music. The two-viola String Quintets, Op. 3 display virtuosity, multi-layered textures, and beautiful cantabile writing, in his own Italian voice.

Camerata Capuzzi is comprised of highly esteemed musicians: Kenneth Goldsmith, violin; Adam LaMotte, violin; Zachary Carrettin, viola; Gregory Ewer, viola;
and Steve Estes, cello.

REVIEWS

Good repertoire off the beaten path, well performed.
author: Dennis Schaefer
Once again we're reminded of just how much really enjoyable, and occasionally brilliant, music is awaiting to be rediscovered. These quintets are more of a genial, than profound, nature, but with good themes well-developed, and certainly at least up to the high standards set for even middle-of-the-road music in the 18th century.
