Album Notes

Circle of Flutes is an eight member flute choir which was formed in 1992. Our members reside throughout the Puget Sound region in Washington and have enjoyed performing in a variety of venues including the Capitol Rotunda in Olympia. The group performs a range of styles including classical, folk, jazz, Latin and sacred music using a full range of instruments from the flute family. Instrumentation includes the concert flute, alto, piccolo, bass, and the rare contra bass flutes. The excellent musicianship of the members and history of the group contribute to their beautifully blended sound and soothing style.

Our premier CD, A Classical Christmas, is a collection of traditional Christmas songs along with a few classical favorites. All of the pieces were arranged especially for flute choir. Song titles include two selections from the beloved Nutcracker Suite and the contemporary classical piece, Greensleeves Fantasia. Those unfamiliar with the sound of a flute choir will be surprised by the full orchestrations provided by the combination of different flute voices.
