notes
Imagine Aretha meets Joplin, Etta James, Sarah Vaughn & the Brand New Heavies at a bluesy/retro-acid-soul/rub-a-dub jazz party.
The tunes are uplifting, ironic, intelligent, honestly written & passionately executed.
Tony Bennett called Pat 'the real deal!'
When she lets her voice rip, it stabs you right in the heart with a golden blade.
Her bandmates have worked with Lenny Kravitz, Natalie Merchant, Shawn Colvin, Prince, Sting & more. And they play like they mean it. The camaraderie comes through in the music.
Pat has masterfully combined all the styles here into a cohesive, individual sound that will speak to your soul!

The Blues Corner 2
author: Steve2blue4uNew Blues Artist-Pat Cisarano: steve2blue4u (31/M/MS.) 1/23/00 12:41 amI don't know if any of you had time yet to check this new artist out from her web site in an earlier message(#1824), but you gotta give this lady a listen. Her name is Pat Cisarano from Brooklyn, NY. I received her release today titled "Ah" and it has a great sound. She nicely mixes her apparent influences of Jazz, Blues, Pop/Rock, Soul and R & B into one great album. If your a Blues fan and also like a mix of other music, this won't disappoint you. Check her out.

author: Brooklyn Bridge MagazineBROOKLYN BRIDGE June-July 2000 Whoever said Pat Cisarano could sing wasn’t kidding. AH, her bluesy first CD, is relaxed & confident-her voice is a classic instrument that can make any song sound great. The Sheepshead Bay native, whose family ran an Italian restaurant, Pop’s Place, on Ave. U, keeps her music "real"-no synthetic noises intrude on the solid groove. A former street vendor & taxicab driver, Cisarano spent 3 years recording AH, getting it just right, & it shows

author: Track Strichting Rythmn & Blues BredaSeptember 2000 (Holland) Translated from Dutch Right away, when we opened the package we received by mail, we started to like Miss Cisarano. On the cover we find her with the Tibetan symbol "Ah", which stands for 'all sounds in universe'. It is said that everyone who looks at this symbol will receive happiness and prosperity. "I hope that everyone who listens to my cd will also find happiness on her 'lifepath'", .Ah (on her own Hapimusic-label) is also the title of her new sensational album. Cisarano, from Italian origin, may definitely be called a veteran. Her parents owned an Italian restaurant in Brooklyn, >and they had the jukebox playing music day and nite. So from childhood on, Pat was loving many kinds of music. After her study at the NY School of Visual Arts, she moved to the legendary town of Woodstock, where she formed her first band. She also studied drama and directing. She acted in several movies and had a part in the Spanish mini soap Las Chicas. Music was her biggest love though, and she was described as the almost ideal mixture of Aretha and Janis. She won many prices and had her debut in 1997 with her album True Love, a true jewel. Recently her follow-up album Ah came out and this album shows a very many-sided singer/composer. Pat succeeds in dissolving the borders between jazz, funk, soul, blues, pop and even fusion to create a total unique sound. You can't really put this music in a certain section, it's a Cisarano sound. This album has reached a great height/climax and absolute toppers are 'Sugar melts...' 'True love' and 'Somebody Talk to MY Baby'. Ah is a delicious timeless album with highstanding musicianship, it's varied and sounds above tiptop/perfection."
The name of this CD really describes the artist and her work...
author: Lou RiccoAbout Pat Cisarano and "AH" 1/2001 By: for Lilith’s Child Website Magazine www.lilithchild.com The name of the CD really describes the artist and her work. Pat Cisarano grew up in NYC singing along on the jukebox with greats like Aretha Franklin and has been compared to Janis Joplin in her sound. You may ask yourself what do these two very different divas have in common? Well, mix them together and you have an idea of the sound that Pat puts out in her new CD "AH". This CD is a mix of soul, jazz, funk, reggae and blues. It takes a pretty serious singer to accomplish a total melding of all these genres, but Pat does it with ease and style. Her voice is light and sweet (just how i like my coffee) with an air, or shall i say a whirlwind, of attitude. Most of the serious issues are addressed in her music... lost love, sweet sugar love, angry love, and "grab your honey" love. To me, any kind of love is fun to sing about, and that she does. While most people expect blues/jazz music to take the typical turns, Pat takes us on a journey not to be easily forgotten. To get into the groove of Pat's music, one must listen to the words. Whimsical lyrics along with the feeling that she is sitting next to you actually giving you advice on a relationship through her songs makes me want to add her to my listening list. She's "been there" and "done that" as it states in her music, and i like that. Her choice of background music casts shadow and light on her lyrics also. For instance, in her song "so glad you're finally gone", i hear a light, upbeat jazz/ska backdrop with a trombone and acoustic guitar and a rastafarian "doin his thang", but the words include "dont come back, cause now im doing ok, a prayer unspoken has finally broken open the spell"...total contrast to the music itself. In the last song on the CD, "i promise you peace", pat wows us with her soloistic style in a slow "praise god" sort of way with a choir in back of her to provide us with that church groove that many tv evangelists provide for us at 3 am when we cant sleep. its a "feel good" song, fun to listen to and easy to relate to. Being a musician myself, i feel that people limit themselves and label their styles. Pat shows that whatever you are feeling there are words to describe it and different styles of music to highlight it; no matter how far away on the spectrum they may be, pat makes it gel. A definite CD to add to your collection, "AH" makes you sit back and breathe a sigh of relief from the everyday.
Cisarano has earned praise from....
author: Nick DedinaLISTEN.COM Cisarano has earned praise from Tony Bennett for her ability to meld the vocal styles of '70s Soul with Jazz and R&B styles of the 1950s. She has more than a touch of Aretha Franklin's gritty Gospel but she restrains herself from always unleashing it full throttle -- and when she does, it stabs you right in the heart. Her backing band takes the same subtle, controlled approach and is filled with veterans who've performed with such acts as Ray Charles, Sting, and Prince. Cisarano is a distinct talent & her latest CD"AH" shall find favor with fans of everyone from Sarah Vaughn to the Brand New Heavies.- NICK DEDINA,
Abath of nocturnal blues.....
author: L'expresse, Neuchatel, SwitzerlandL’EXPRESS, NEUCHATEL (SWITZERLAND-translated from French) A BATH OF NOCTURNAL BLUES Pat Cisarano is back with her musicians, her powerful and persuading voice, her stage presence and her wild mane of hair!-and with her blues, above all those which were composed by the great black composers, the imperishable classics, which she interprets for the pleasure of the public. Pat brought New York with her, where she has her roots. She also brought with her the emotion of a strong voice that sings gospel, blues and rhythm & blues. Patricia holds the scene commandingly but with abandon, kicking the stage with her black leather boots..the blues escape her body and embrace all those around her. The singer offers a large repertoire, rapid rhythms,, classic R&B, a warm and sensual voice for the blues, with accents a thousand times understood…a recipe which bears fruit for a public of all ages, again and forever
Highly Recommended. Magic on ever track. I play it everyday.

Hip, like very.
author: Jim Shorrt, Houston Bay RunnerA¯H BLUE APPLE: No, not a funky computer - I’m talking about NYC Diva/songwriter Pat Cisarano on her new CD, A¯H. Pat lays down a discriminating mix of earthy, jazzy pop, sophisticated blues, terrific R&B, and a touch of reggae rhythm. Hip, like very. All of the songs were written or co-written by Ms. Cisarano. "Carried Away" carried me away, I guarantee. This melancholy, torch ballad is reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt’s "Guilty" right down to the fine keyboard work. Now, imagine yourself in an uptown, chic bistro. The combo is wearing midnight blue tuxedoes that match the lights. The bass is an upright; the drummer has silver brushes. A pale blue spot washes over th e sultry, curvaceous vocalist. Her sequined evening dress shimmering, she moans, "Thank God for the Blues." Can you dig it? I did. Still in the bistro, "Somebody Talk To My Baby" talked to me in a language I understand - harmonica and guitar, heart bleedin’ blues. "All In this Together" is a tune that makes you glad we are. Earthy, jazzy funk meets pop on this number. "Sugar Melts in the Rain" is a tune where the title tells it all.
