notes

Son is a unique slide quitar player. Taking old school Delta blues, Rock n Roll, Soul, R&B and Country, mixing it all together, then adding his manic style of playing and creating a sound that's old and new at the same time. You hear him play his Dobro with heavy hand and lightening quick sliding and finger picking and at times it even sounds like two people playing.

This recording, "Soul, Truth and the Bottom Line" was recorded live in the studio, just Son and his guitar. It's harsh and raw and it's got a lot of up! Songs like "Drunkt Up Motor Mouth," "Hello Yello" and "You's Fine" prove that fact. Then you have the loneliness of "Tone of the Prison Wall" which can put you right in the cellblock. "Interstate Love Affair" and "Texas Rock n Roll" are straight ahead rockers Son likes to call "highway drinkin' music." Then
there's "Payroll" and "C-Ya" and three select covers and you got one solid album.

Son is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He has played about every kind of music, slidin' through different bands in the area. But it's his solo projects that keep him going. This is his first full on acoustic outing and this is the path he's been working to. Son says. "Ain't many gigs round Lauderdale for a solo acoustic slide player playing blues and such, so I guess it's time to hit the road." And hopefully that's what the future will hold.

Son's previous releases include:

Thrashin' Blues
with Violent Playground
1989

Diggin' the Groove
w/ Mox Nix
1993

Between a Rock
and a Blues Place
1999

  • Hey now! this is coolness!
    author: Louise Damadian

This album has its own originality from all the old great blues sound. Real talent is rare and orignal blues slide hard to find quality sounding. This is a great addition to my collection.

Ever met a Delta Blues artist who drank a Jolt and No-Doz cocktail? Well, now you can. This fella, and his heavy-handed yet manic style of slide guitar playing combined with no-nonsense lyrics ("I wanna run naked through your soul") makes for non-stop entertainment. But don't misunderstand- this artist is no joke. This man has some seriously deep Blues to deliver.

  • Soul down to the spine.

Son play his brand of blues from one place....his spine! Listening to it once, the first time, is not enough!

  • Slide SSSlide SSLLLlide

If you love blues and slide acoustic--this is addicting! The more you play it, the better it gets.
