Album Notes

OCTOBER VALENTINE is the first full-length release from Chris Kokesh. Full of honest and intimate performances, these songs of love lost, bad timing, resolve and perseverance weave sadness and hopefulness into the irresistibly bittersweet.

Chris is no newcomer to the Folk and Americana scene. Her alluring vocals and tasty fiddle playing helped create Northwest favorite Misty River’s signature vocal blend and modern folk style, and her award-winning songwriting distinguished her as a stand-alone talent.

Now Chris's lyrical voice stands front and center in the seven original songs on this collection. Jeff Douglas, of Oregon Public Broadcasting says, "When a song really works it's hard to imagine those words with any other music, like they always went together and the writer just discovered them. Chris Kokesh is writing songs like that."

But Chris is not only a songwriter, she is a song-interpreter, and has a knack for choosing the perfect song to sing. Here she includes songs written by Texans and Australians and one North Carolinian Jonathan Byrd, who also makes a guest appearance on the recording.
