Clave Mundiál
in 1979 Sana & Papo Nickel began a journey that would take them on a musical exploration through Latin America & the Caribbean.
After many years of traveling they now reside on the island of Puerto Rico and in Vermont. There for the past 20 years they have enjoyed an ongoing musical collaboration with some of the finest musicians on the island and in the northeast USA. Out of this collaboration was born the musical ensemble CLAVE MUNDIÁL [pronounced: klá-vay moon-dee-ál].This is a cross-cultural weave rooted in the traditional rhythms of the Afro-Latin Caribbean, driven by female/male vocals inspired by the folk/pop/jazz traditions of the Americas. The duo, TAINO, Sana & Papo Nickel are the principle singer/songwriters of CLAVE MUNDIÁL tour extensively throughout the Northeast and are known for their improvisational vocals and meaningful lyric content highlighted with rich world rhythms and flavors.
This CD includes a variety of tonality including Afro-pop, Samba, Guaguancó, Ballads and Jazz salsa. Among the 20 artists participating on this album are: Juan "Kacho: Montalvo, Pichi Perez, Richard Ríos, Martín de Jesus, Iván González, Héctor Rodríguez, Frankie Pérez, Tom Schmidt, Dan DeWalt, Tony Vacca, Fenibo Kalaiwo, Steve Sonntag, Charlie Schnewiess, Tim Moran, and Steve Leicach. Instrumentation includes vocals, congas, piano, trombone, bass, balafon, Latin & African Percussion, bongos, Ecuadorian harp, flute, okarina, Batá drums, children's choir.
