Album Notes

Claymore is a Calgary based, World Celtic band. It is mainly comprised of Chris Greve, Jim Taylor, Derrek Spencer, and Matt Zinken.

Coming from varied backgrounds and experiences, Claymore blends and shapes songs, to produce high-tempo dance songs and emotion stirring ballads.

Chris Greve is lead singer, plays guitar, bohdran, tambourine, and those shaky-eggs things, and loves the energy transmitted through Celtic and Maritime music.

Jim Taylor trained violin classically and has played Eastern European folk and Classical music for over 3 decades.

Derrek Spencer plays mostly bass guitar at the moment, although he is an accomplished lead guitar player, and aspiring Bodhran player.

Matt Zinken, drummer, is the most recent addition to the band, and provide a steady beat and drive to the celtic tunes.

Claymore performs original and traditional celtic influenced songs, and always works hard to involve the crowd. The boys encourage fun and exude energy in all their shows.

Musical influences range from “Great Big Sea” “Gaelic Storm” and “Spirit Of The West”, to “The Chieftans” and “The Pogues”.
