Clay is the brainchild of guitarist Fossface who wanted to put together a band whose sound would take shape as different musicians came together to create songs. He named it Clay for that reason. The music and style would change depending on who was in the band. He and bassist Amy Brandt performed together as Clay for many years working with several singers and drummers, performing live, recording and touring. With each new member came an entirely new sound and vibe, each one fresh and exciting. Eventually Fossface and Amy decided to put Clay to rest to pursue other projects. Over time, however, they missed the type of creativity that goes into writing and performing an eclectic blend of strong, solid tunes with powerful vocals and harmonies. It was time to record a Clay album. With bassist Amy Brandt on lead vocals, Fossface on guitar, and Ben Ruhl on drums, this album also features performances by members of Hollywood punk band Piss-Ant (www.piss-ant.com) and the Blueman Group.

What a Great Find

I bought this CD through browsing CDBaby and I love it! The songs are really catchy and I'm so glad the artist included the lyrics. It makes singing along so much easier. My favorite song on the album might have to be the acoustic "Miracle (Chelsea's Song)" which is obviously a beautiful tribute to someone very special.

This CD has not left my player since I bought it. I can't get enough of it. The opening song "Pedestal" has one of the strongest hooks I've ever heard (I can't get that song out of my head ... which is a good thing). I LOVE the harmonies and vocals on Lost Soul and the drums on Over-Rated and Red Feathers are top notch. This is a must have for any collection.

It rocks!

The music & lyrics are immensely filled with rich emotion and sound taking the listener on an awesome ride. Sometimes the song is eerie and haunting (like a female Pink Floyd) - other times, glam (a little of T-Rex). The variety of sound keeps the listener interested in every song and awaiting the next.

A must have CD, Clay's latest endeavor is a veritable fountain of sound, leading and guiding the listener on everlasting paths of audible negligence. From the harmonic Dolby C oversampling in Pedestal to the staccato-like wow and reverb in Faces, Clay fans the world over will need defibrillators once the dust settles.
