(About MP3 downloads at CD Baby)

'60s inspired English Guitar Pop/Rock meets '70s inspired American funk/Soul. Lyrical - melodic, groovy and good for you.

notes

Beautiful Nowhere is made up of recordings that I did in '93 - '94, just after leaving School of Fish, and on the way to my A&M release, Inarticulate Nature Boy.

They were originally intended as demos and have never been availible 'til now, but during the past few months while driving around with this tape in my car, I found these songs again along with the fulfillment I felt when I made them.

They were a complete departure from what I'd been doing with SOF and a dive into unknown waters. That is what was captured on this CD, the dive itself.

The songs are melodic and funky, and were a blast to record. They are the seeds of what would follow.

If you liked School Of Fish - If you liked Inarticulate Nature Boy, or The Live CD, then this is the missing link.

A CD made at home, at all hours of the day and night, for myself with no record company agendas to be found.

These could have been the demos that I then tried to recreate for a CD, but why not just give you the spark itself.

Enjoy the music.

Another amazing cd from Josh. Hard to say which track is my favorite b/c it is such a great album.

  • Another Great effort by a true artist!

As with all Josh Clayton-Felt releases, this is excellent! A true Todd Rundgren type, with all musical instruments, vocals, recording and editing done by Josh. These do not sound like basement tapes. These recordings are better than most groups will ever produce. It was a true loss of talent when Josh died.

  • Whoa! Josh rocks again!

I wasn't sure what to expect from Beautiful Nowhere before I listened to it b/c the other Josh CD's I have (Spirit Touches Ground, Inarticulate Nature Boy) were so different from each other. Beautiful Nowhere is a great CD with personal, intimate songwriting complemented by a groovy yet funky layer of sound.

  • Surprisingly incredible...

I had mistakenly put off buying this album even after being a fan of Josh's for ten years... I was afraid that since it was an inbetweener, almost a B-side level recording that I'd be disappointed, and after his death I was very happy with my memories of Josh. But after grabbing the live album, my interest was renewed and I decided to give "Beautiful Nowhere" a shot. Thank goodness I did. Not only is it unique and special in its own right, but even 3 songs into it I knew it would become a mainstay in my collection. Its a great look back at a signifigant songwriting time in Josh's life, and is fruitfully entertaining and listenable for what I once considered an ignorable album. I truly wish I'd picked it up earlier.

  • What a loss

I was so sorry to hear about Josh's passing in Jan, 2000. He's a true talent that can never be replaced. Thank God he left us so much great music to enjoy. Thanks, Josh! You will be remembered.

beautiful nowhere, by josh clayton-felt is one of the best albums I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. never have I heard a more perfect blend of rock, funk, soul, folk, etc...while still achieving an unmistakably beautiful style. josh does it all so well. plus, it is so deep and personal, I swear you'll feel like you know the guy after listening to it. you'll find yourself singing along and tapping your fingers in no time. if you like catchy lyrics, funky guitar riffs, and strong melodies, please buy this album! you will not be sorry!
