Album Notes

Industrial is in a hurting place right now. Filter is commercial. Orgy is just the pits, and NIN..well Trent is more into intriguing sounds then writing music that inspires movement. From the ashes there comes hope. .Click. Based out of Maryland, we have seen this band grow to the point of where they are now. A band that has molded themselves into awesome song writers to go along with the already proven talent.

.Click. succeeds where Orgy and other industrial/electronic bands fail. They use the keyboard effects to enhance their music, not hide musical inadequacies. Plus .Click. writes music that makes you want to beat the piss out of everyone around you. You are not inundated with fuz, clicks, pops, techno beats that disturb the flow of the music. This is heard best with my favorite track in 2001 thus far. "Enigma SynthetiK" starts off with a couple real whiny guitar effects, and another guitar spouting off a sound that has almost a sitar sound to it. John's vocals are all over the place. Talk about singing your fucking brains out. The part that stands out for me is the middle where a clear channel with an echoing effect accompanies John. It is very emotional and moving. I don't want to ruin it, all I will say is Awesome shit. At the end the guitars go down real low and hammer it out to close the track. Next up is "Btr". Here they have a down tuned guitar and another axe that has a high pitched Orgy feel to it. There is a grooving part that reminds me alot of New Order, but .Click. makes it their own with John's melodic vocals. The mood changes in a heart beat, it is like a fast trip through the mental ward. Disturbing and moving sums up the experience.

"Black Moods" is very dark. It is not a ballad, but the pace is slowed down. It's like someone died. Yet again the emotion that John belts out is something to admire. A keyboard supplies the mood, while the strings flows over it with a mesmerizing affect. Mid way through the guitars slam your body into the wall repeatedly. Crowbar like guitars hammer relentlessly, then the swirling axe returns with John taking you out.

Often times when I am reviewing a CD, I am finding myself saying the same things over and over. Same with .Click. The emotion in the music is moving. It is mood music, and the mood is not a positive one. But when a musician can get the listener to feel what he/ she is feeling, then they have accomplished what they are striving for. .Click. epitomizes industrial, without falling squarely into that category. Music for the ugly corners of life would be the best way to describe the .Click. experience.

Derek's Scale of 1 to 10: 9, the evolution is complete.

This album is now one of my favorites and rivals those other major artists in my CD collection. They have that perfect industrial sound that I crave for this new age.

We just wanted to say that anyone who doesn't agree that click is one of the best bands alive, we'll see you in hell! The lyrics are some of the best we've heard in a long time!We could listen to it all day. We did before. It was last summer at camp...

Well, Enigma Synthetic is the best song. To tell you the truth this isn't their best. If you want to listen to their best, get Gently Unraveling.
