Album Notes

From the hot little planet known as Albuquerque, New Mexico comes The Jenny Clinkscales Band. Formed in 1996 by ex-east coast rockers Jenny Sincero and Amy Clinkscales, TJCB is a strange brew of 70's glam rock, 80's pop, and a squirrelly genius all their own.

Their stuff ranges from eccentric to redneck, poignant to ill-mannered and sticks in your mind like a meat cleaver - as one enlightened source put it, "Wow, you guys can really play for a couple of girls."

With an EP entitled "Mind If We Join You?" and a huge following wherever they choose to lead, TJCB are proving once and for all that just because they dress like drag queens doesn't mean they can't rock like pigs.

"Their debut, an expertly produced six-song EP titled, 'Mind If We Join You?' begs listeners to question, 'Why the hell didn't you join us sooner?' Over the course of a half-dozen songs, TJCB wax poetic on the mysteries of S&M, boys who are afraid of smart girls, and several other topics that haven't exactly been rock's mainstays. But the songs are so well-written, so perfectly executed, that the EP is destined for infamy. The message is clear: Do you want to rock? Fuck Yeah!" -- The Weekly Alibi 2/99

"Quite possibly the best looking band in America" -- Static Magazine 2/99

"...the group has a power that few bands are willing to wield these days." -- The Albuquerque Journal

"Does the live show - equal parts glam, cock and shock rock melded to the powerful dueling stage personas of the band's frontwomen - come across on the CD? The answer is a surprising and resounding (to borrow a TJCB song title), Fuck Yeah!...'Mind If We Join you?' ranks at the top of the local list. And if this is but a taste of LPs yet to come, then hold on to your fishnet stockings." -- The Weekly Alibi 12/98

Can't stop listening.

I can't stop listening to this CD. Tracks 1 and 4 spontaneously begin playing in my head as I go about my day's activities. It's a bit embarrassing when S&M begins to play as I'm on my way to church. I'm glad no one else can hear what plays in my mind. Well, that's not true; buy the CD and you can hear it all for yourselves.

Damn good.

This is a hell of a CD. The lyrics are alternately deep (as in "Get Away Smooth" and "Getting High Off the Lows"),raunchy ("S&M"), and just plain , uh, out there ("The Freaks are Alright"). The songwrining of Jen Sincero and Amy Clinkscales is consistently fresh, and the playing is dynamite. My only complaint would be the mix - The rhythm section is a bit buried at times, which is a shame, because the team of Freddie Weinstein (drums) and Marcos Garza (bass) is one of the most exciting I've heard in ages. Garza, in particular, is at once fiery, individualistic, and sympathetic to the needs of the song at hand.Overall, a damn good CD.

Why is this album so short - I need mooooooore!!

This album is beyond fun, and keeps getting better with every listen. These chicks rock - even on the funnier songs, the music kicks ass. I accidentally swiped this album from a friend (I swear!) and nearly collapsed when I popped it in. I love it. I wish they'd put out another one but I think they aren't together anymore. So sad. Fuck Yeah could well be the most rockin song ever. Great lyrics too.
