The septet concocts a stylish formula of instrumentally driven hip-hop that is complimented by shades of 70s-era funk, jazz, and vintage Motown soul. While they use these stylistic touchstones liberally, Cloud Nine have nevertheless managed to produce a sound that is uniquely their own.
The reason for this is simple: Cloud Nine's music comes from the heart. It is the organic quality of the rhythm, the smoothness of the grooves and the formidable vocal talents of singer/MC Jamie Register, all of which work together to produce an amalgam of funked up grooves that is neither derivative or contrived - a true rarity indeed.

I feel I'm in an underground funk club in Detroit at 2am, and the whole room is dancing and sweating to the sound of some real FUNK.
