"The voice is what carries the songs, moving from a Medicine-meets-Garbage beauty, Mazzy Star delicate and Cowboy Junkie slow, and then building and screaming some harsh painting of hurt, catching you off guard and then so loud, so liquid," - BIG TAKEOVER

REVIEWS

strong effort from Sheila & co.

The above review is correct, if you like Hole, you'll dig on Cober, almost 100% chance of that! However, I have to say I enjoy Sheila's voice more (it's got more of a slinky-gothy-dreamy feel, imagine Love on tons of Percocet [hard to believe right? ;)] lying in bed all fuzzed out, but TOTALLY SEXY too -- that is Sheila's voice) and I must say Sheila's guitar work is better too. Infact, Sheila reminds me of (dare I say this) VINI REILLY OF THE DURUTTI COLUMN in spots. Heavy on the reverb, delay, and use of it to create arcs of sound. Don't get me wrong, these songs absolutely ROCK OUT when they need to, but it is not only rockin', it's GORGEOUS. Next stop for me, her solo record, available here too :)

Even better than the debut.

The tempo of the songs is slightly faster than on 'Crashpilot' but the dark, velvety anguish is still there and better than ever. If you like Hole you will love this album.
