Album Notes

Church Of Betty is a New York City band that incorporates the best elements of prog-rock, psych, and rhythm driven Indian classical music.

Comparisons to artists ranging from XTC to Todd Rundgren have been bandied about.

Dubbed by Magnet magazine as purveyors of "urban psychedlia", THE VILLAGE VOICE recently proclaimed that Church of Betty leader, Chris Rael, "pulls off the raga-rock gambit better than any Western guitar guy, ever." And COVER magazine notes that Church of Betty delivers the goods "without coming off like drippy neo-hippies."

Produced by Chris Rael and longtime collaborator Danny Kadar and featuring 12 guest musicians, Fruit on the Vine finds Church of Betty taking on the broad palette that makes up their signature sound, from the Indian folk pulse of the album's opener, The Magic In You to the proggy-psych-pop of Tail End of A Dream to the orchestrated and lush Monolith.

Also featured is a track entitled Deep in the Ocean. This track, a fan favorite from Church of Betty's live shows, is a solo performance from tabla player, Deep Singh.
