Codie Prevost is a genuine person with a down to earth perspective who is one of Canada’s “To Watch For” singer/songwriters of the year. For Codie country music is all about letting the music take you on a journey. With a quiet confidence and keen ear for memorable melodies Codie’s songs touch on a variety of subjects. From love lost to going out on weekends and having some fun with friends.

Commitment to music is a reflection of Codie’s personality. He is very dedicated, sincere and honest. Those qualities shine thought not only in his original songs but also in his live performances. Grounded and easy going are also words you often hear about Codie. With a passion for music and a dedication to his art that is seldom seen in such a young man, Codie is an artist who will undoubtedly develop a long lasting career in the music industry.

Codie’s debut album “The Road Ahead” was released in 2005 and was met with rave reviews. It captured the 2006 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Album of the Year award and placed Codie as a top ten finalist for the 2006 Canadian Country Music Associations Chevy Truck Rising Star Award. He has released 6 singles from the album and has received airplay on over 155 radio stations worldwide.

This past fall Codie was asked to take part in the 2007 CCMA weekend as part of the Songwriter’s Café putting him alongside some of Canada’s biggest stars. Codie performs with a five piece band that includes bass, drums, fiddle, electric guitar and acoustic guitar. He has showcased his talents at many fairs, exhibitions and festivals with his band and can also perform as a solo acoustic artist depending on the venue. Last year Codie performed over 110 shows in Western Canada. He recently opened for Canadian artists Emerson Drive, Doc Walker, Aaron Pritchett and Gord Bamford.

My two favorate songs right now are, That's where I come in and Waste of love.And I say right now because last week it was Not just the beer and He's not me.I also love A lot to be said for leavin' So I guess it depends on the mood your in. But really it is hard to find a favorite since they are all great.

    I just got through listening to your cd and I'd have to say, it's definitely a cd I'd recommend to any country music lover. It's got the best mix of messages. You've got your fun songs to dance to, great songs about the best and worst sides of relationships and a nice song dedicated to your dad. All around an awesome album!     This is the best new country cd on the market today. The songs are all heartfelt and have a lot of meaning. If you want to hear geniune country with a fresh new sound, you have to get this cd.     For a new artist he shows a lot of talent and i see a positive future in store for Codie. Buying this cd is one of the best musical purchases you can make.     I'm not much of a country fan but this CD rocks! Having written most of the material on "The Road Ahead" Codie is definitely on the fast track to becoming a household name. Even if your not a "country music fan" this CD will become one of your favorites as it has mine. Standouts are "Shinin' River", "Not Just The Beer Talkin", "A Million Miles Away" and the rockin' "He's Not Me". This is an Indie release so I'm predicting that in a few years when Codie is a major label artist this CD will be a collectors item.

    Codie Prevost has put together a collection of 12 can't miss radio friendly cross-over country/pop songs with all the components called for in songwriting 101 - meaningful lyrics with hooky choruses, flowing bridges, and professional production. Everything's here - from the whiskey hall anthems in "Next Weekend", to alcohol induced vision, "Not Just the Beer Talkin'. Most of the songs are dedicated to relationships. The CD opens up with "Better Off Alone" - with perfect chorus and my favorite lyric, 'he's just a pain in the past', describing how 'she's better off with. .me'. Along the same lines is "Waste of Love" - the girl is with the wrong person, 'why spend it all on him, what a waste of love'. The most emotional impact comes in the 3rd track, "A lot to be said for Leaving". The chorus is sung from the perspective of Prevost's father - and the message is touching from a farmer's perspective, 'there's a lot be said for leaving, even though it's been good to me, this life gets harder and harder, and it ain't what it used to be - i could lie and tell you otherwise, and i'd be proud if you want to stay, there's a lot to be said for leaving, i'll understand if you walk away'. I expect huge things from Prevost - nearly perfect.
