"Hidden Pond", the debut release by guitarist-songwriter David Coe, is an all-instrumental, acoustic-based treasure. The album showcases not only his fluid, expressive playing on all kinds of stringed instruments, but also his strong sense of melody as well as compositional and orchestral dynamics.The title track, which starts off with some intricate, James Taylor-like fingerpicking, sets the stage for an uplifting hook that builds in intensity before segueing back to the opening theme. If you're a fan of phenomenal guitar playing, check out Coe's brilliant arpeggiated cross-picking on "True Divided Light", or his soulful nylon string workout on "Sun Haven". This is a fine example of good clean fingerstyle guitar.
I own over 400 fingerstyle guitar cd's and this is the top 10 favorites of mine. Can not wait for his 2nd release. Great work David!
