Album Notes

During nearly two decades as a nationally selling book and magazine article writer, Coke Newell has honed his craft as a guitarist, lyricist and songwriter. This is his first recording to be published, but the result is solid, clever, and enticing.

Having cut his musical teeth on guitar-centered Americana like Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Outlaws and Molly Hatchet, his latest influences range from Joe Satriani to Collective Soul, Blues Traveler and New Age celtic. This is a solo effort, featuring lots of guitar and Coke's own poetics, with synthesized drums. Listen to Coke's newest album, "Box of Rocks" (November 2003, featuring drummer Neil Johnson) by clicking on www.cdbaby.com/cd/cokenewell2 .
