2.MISS FENWAY (Jan Doucette Lead Singer Al Jackson singer and producer © 2012 Time 5:29)
Though over a 100 years old, Miss Fenway's going for another 100! She sings about her life as a ballpark with her favorite ballplayers and as a rival of Miss Yankee Stadium and Miss Wrigley Field. This Grand Lady's not ready to wear purple with a red hat yet !! The Chorus reveals Miss Fenway's plan for the future! But, there's lots more!
FOR THE NEXT HUNDRED YEARS YOU FANS WILL CHEER
FOR THE NEXT HUNDRED YEARS YOU'LL LAUGH WITHOUT TEAR

I'M THE GRAND LADY OF THE BACK BAY MISS FENWAY

With years of creative experience, Al makes music and recordings for hundreds. Jan Doucette the lead singer has been a life-long singer in church. 3.DID PESKY HOLD THE BALL? (Phil Coley Singer and producer Time 5:13 © 2010)
Johnny Pesky, once known as Mr. Red Sox, deserved the title Mr. Baseball because of his life long devotion to baseball. One play way back in the 1946 World Series still gets retold today with the question Did Pesky hold the ball? The song: Did Pesky hold the ball answers a much larger question. The words are recited and sung with great feeling by Singer Phil Coley, who has sung scores of my songs over many years. He owns his own recording studio, has his own band and has been on TV and in movies.
Interviewing Johnny Pesky and his son David was more than a special delight. Both spoke of his 70 year career in pro ball and his many travels from player to numerous baseball positions. I was thrilled to hear David and Johnny say they loved my song. The most revealing part of the interview came when the beloved and humble Johnny asked, "Why write a song about me?" I simply said, Johnny you're Johnny Pesky!! Here is a two line introduction to the song: Did Pesky Hold the Ball?
THE LEGEND ASKED WHY WRITE A SONG ABOUT ME? I SAID JOHNNY YOU’RE JOHNNY PESKY (two line introduction) WHERE DID HIS CAREER BEGAN? IN NATIVE PORTLAND, OREGON!
Quote: A Home Run Off the Pesky Pole!
Written with love, the Pesky song is a tribute as Johnny is defended as blameless and a hero by baseball song writer Joe Pickering, who knew and always admired the Red Sox infield great. They both lived in Lynn, Ma for many seasons. Cleverly written, the song is catchy and filled with wonderful history that is as poetic as a Pesky to Doerr to York double play. Bob Keaney Sports Writer Daily Evening item Lynn, Ma.
4.I'M A YANKEE FAN (Harry King Singer and Producer © 2011 Time 3:16)
The song: I'm a Yankee Fan was written as a tribute to Yankee Fans! The New York Yankees are among the greatest sports teams in the world. They have the most championships won in any sport. Yankee fans match their team's wins with world-wide enthusiasm. Yankee fans are everywhere!
Harry King the producer, arranger and singer hails from Texas and Maine, Harry has three platinum albums and two gold singles for projects he played keyboards on. The platinum albums are: The Carter Volume 2 and The Evolution of Robin Thicke. Also Harry has two gold singles for records and has produced Engelbert Humperdinck, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Freddy Cannon and the Afternoon Delights and played keys on Robin Thicke's first two albums and Lil' Wayne's "The Carter Volume 2." A recent You Tube video makes a plea to Americans to help our missing POW/MIAs in the song "Bring Me Home." which is written by outstanding songwriter Wendell Austin.
If you like rock n' roll and you like the Yankees, you'll love this song. The first two verses start this triumphant song rolling!
I'M A YANKEE FAN! DRUM ROLL!

WHO'S THE GREATEST YANKEE FAN IN THE LAND?

Quotes: Phil Speranza the owner of the oldest Yankee fan site www.behindthebombers.com made several great quotes about the I'm a Yankee Fan song.
"Well Joe P Jr has outdone himself once again. He actually transformed himself into a Yankee fan for the purpose of writing a song that is not only a tribute to the greatest team in sports history but the greatest fans in the sports world as well."
"Would you expect a Yankee Fan song to be anything but upbeat? Harry King delivers this proclamation as good as any of my Bronx Buddies could. The author takes some of the limelight using the tune as a Thank You card from the Yankees to the Baltimore and Red Sox for their contributions to Yankee lore. A big pick me up to the post season mortem."
5.ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS THE YANKEES TO LOSE (Phil Coley Singer and Producer © 2010 Time 3:36)
Multiple Millions of baseball fans yearn for the day when their team, whether the long losing Cubs, Rangers, Mariners, Rockies, Padres, Twins, Astros, Cleveland, and Nationals, win the Big One! One reason they don't is those darn New York Yankees. Why can't they be compassionate losers! Since it won't happen, on behalf of those fans and their teams, this song pleads with Santa to intervene. Yes, Santa, choose another team among the above! Another great rendition by singer and producer Phil Coley. The Chorus and the first verse tell you the reason why Santa should do the right thing but is even Santa a Yankee fan??
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS THE YANKEES TO LOSE

6. BASEBALL'S YAO MING (Roger Eydenberg Singer and Producer © 2012 Time 3:48)
Roger Eydenberg rocks as he sings the song Baseball's Yao Ming. This song is about the quest to find the next Super Star who will open up China to Baseball ! Who knows what depth of talent can be found in the land of more than a billion people? How many Chinese kids realized playing the Grand Old Game??
Brian Moore, a police officer, who has traveled to 30 countries and seen baseball in 18 gave permission to use this photo of Wukesong Baseball Stadium 2 in Peking, China where baseball was played in the 2008 Olympics. Brian is an International Scorekeeper for the International Baseball Federation. Thanks Brian for permission to use your photo as artwork for the song Baseball's Yao Ming
Quote by Brian Moore: I LOVED THE SONG! ENJOYED LISTENING TO IT. Reminded me of getting to know Coach Lefvebre and following Team China for a couple of years leading up to 2008 and then getting to be there.
7.FIRST IN BOOZE FIRST IN SHOES (Phil Coley Singer and Producer © 2012 Time 3:45)
The song First in Booze First in Shoes celebrates the long ago but still loved Saint Louis Browns. More than six decades have passed but the Saint Louis Fans Browns Club keeps alive their beloved Browns who were though hapless Fun team Number 1 in Major League History. Bill Rogers the President of the St. Louis Browns Fan Club gave permission to use his photo of Sportsman's Park for the artwork. Thank you Bill! Please read the first verse then listen to this wonderful song!
FIRST IN BOOZE FIRST IN SHOES
OUR BROWNS WERE THE YANKEES OF THEIR DAY
WELL, THEY COULD'VE BEEN BUT THEY TRADED AWAY
ALL OUR STAR PLAYERS THOUGH WE DID SCREAM
DOWN THEY WENT THE OPPOSITE OF A DREAM TEAM
Excerpt and Quotes from the Official Magazine of the St. Louis Browns Historical Society Pop Flies, By Emmett McAuliffe, St. Louis Browns Fan Club Board
“Imagine our surprise when the opportunity dropped in our laps to have two brand-new songs written about our beloved Browns.
In this case, the songwriter was none other than Joe Pickering Jr. who has written songs for a HBO Film and has four albums of material in the national Baseball Hall Of Fame and Museum's sound collection. Joe was interested in writing new song about the Browns, and was not going to charge us anything, and all we had to do was work with him by providing him some of the history and lore of the team. Which naturally we were happy to do.
The result of this collaboration is "Brownie Pop Flies", a delightful song with a catchy hook and another called "First in Booze, First in Shoes." The lyrics for "Pop Flies" are a meditation, of sorts, on the Browns penchant for hitting the ball in the air rather than on a line. The singer of "Brownie Pop Flies" is Danny Mack, who is a member of a Hall of Fame in his own right: the Country Music Association of America Hall of Fame. The song features full instrumentation including guitar, bass, banjo, and piano.
"First in Booze, First in Shoes" is sung by Phil Coley who has produced and played on more than 100 albums, which were all recorded in his studio. His radio spots can be heard daily around the West GA. area. Songwriters from all over the United States use Phil to demo their songs. Whether Phil is playing guitar, producing music, or writing music, he can be counted on to give a 100 percent in any situation.
Mike Roberts Phil Coley brings the old Saint Louis Browns to life with guitar, piano and wonderful voice. The Browns may not have won a world championship by their actions but they live on as Fun time No. 1.
8. BROWNIE POP FLIES (Danny Mack Singer and Producer © 2012 Time 2:39)
Although the St. Louis Browns left Saint Louis over 60 years ago, the Fan Club holds in their hearts their magnificent memories of their beloved St. Louis Browns. Sadly, the Browns never won a World Series in all the decades that they played at Sportsman's Park. Never the less, their
fans had many beyond magical moments.
The Browns did try hard but, they were never good enough. The major offensive weapon in their arsenal was their thousands of pop flies which only led to more outs and lost games. Brownie Pop Flies became a symbol of the Browns so much so that the Saint Louis Browns Fan Club's magazine is called "Pop Flies." From this I had the idea of creating the song Brownie Pop Flies. I hope the song will please the most tenacious of baseball fans the St. Louis Browns Fan Club and all of who deeply cherish baseball and love good humor.
Many thanks to Bill Rogers the President for permitting the masthead of their Pop Flies Magazine to be used as the Artwork for the song Brownie Pop Flies. Please read the first verse then listen to a fun song!
BROWNIE POP FLIES
A MILLION MEMORIES OF SPORTSMAN'S PARK
IN DAY OR NIGHT GAMES OH WHAT A LARK
WE NEVER WON A WORLD SERIES IN THE FALL
BUT WE WERE CHAMPS POPPING UP THE BALL
Quotes from the Official Magazine of the St. Louis Browns Historical Society Pop Flies
"I HAVE PLAYED IT MANY TIMES IN MY CAR AND I AM DELIGHTED WITH IT." . . . Fan Club Member"
"It tells the story of Pop Flies and the Browns Frustration over the years. While the Browns had a losing record, they were not losers." Posted by Bill Rogers
9. THAT SEVENTH INNING STRETCH (Roger William Singer and Producer © 2012 Time 5:05)
The song: That Seventh Inning Stretch is a romantic song based upon a true an amazing Romantic Moment that happened during the seventh inning stretch at Fenway Park. This song is wonderfully sung. Bass, Guitars, and Drums were the music instruments played in this song. The super photo of Fenway Park was taken by John W. Small Jr. who gave his permission to use this photo. Thank you John !
Just read the first two verses and listen to this TRUE romantic song!
THAT SEVENTH INNING STRETCH
I TOOK MY GIRL TO FENWAY IN SIXTY FOUR
SHE HADN'T BEEN TO A BASEBALL GAME BEFORE
CAN'T REMEMBER WHO THE SOX PLAYED OR THE SCORE
BUT LOVE'S FIRE WORKS BURST IN THE SEVENTH AND MORE
BEFORE THE STRETCH I SAID THERESA WATCH ME
I'LL MAKE THIS FENWAY CROWD STAND INSTANTLY
I RAISED MY ARMS LIKE MOSES PARTING THE RED SEA
OVER THIRTY THOUSAND ROSE MAGICALLY
"The highlight of Joe Pickering, Jr.'s new CD is the heartwarming '7th Inning Stretch', which tells the tale of a life-long courtship that began during a seventh-inning stretch at Fenway Park in the mid-1960s. Those of us old enough to remember those pre-Impossible Dream years can relate to the mood and atmosphere that existed back then, and can truly believe that a magic moment like that could really happen." Ernie Paicopolos, Editor-In-Chief, FenwayNation, http://www.fenwaynation.com/ Reprinted from www.behindthebombers.com with the permission of Phil Speranza owner the web site
LOVE IN THE RED SOX NATION (re; song That Seventh Inning Stretch)
Yes Baseball Fans there is Love abound in the RSN! Yes, in the same town that just released a commercial in which the only words were Yankees Suck comes a love story that can touch everyone's heart with a giggle, a smile and a tear.
Joe Pickering Jr. brings us the autobiographical tune which tells the story of a young couple in love and their first trip together to Fenway Park.
Could the same writer who brought us "All I Want For Christmas Is For The Yankees To Lose" have a sensitive side to him? You bet he can, and he does it in style while incorporating our favorite sport in"That Seven Inning Stretch" sung by Roger William. The balladeer delivers the story as if it was his own in a style that would rekindle any fire.
The young lover tries and succeeds to impress his lady friend at Fenway by making her believe he can make the entire stadium stand in the seventh inning reminiscent to Moses parting the Red (Sox?) Sea. And how does it end you ask? Well, as Phil asks, you can listen to it!!
10.THE KING OF SLUGFEST (Phil Coley Singer and Producer © 2010 Time 4:11)
Who was the greatest slugger in baseball? Who could hit a ball further than any baseball player in history? The King of Slugfest that is who! We will never see his like again. Again, Phil makes a masterful creative effort to tell the exploits and tale of the one and only King of Slugfest !
THE KING OF SLUGFEST
TODAY'S SPORTS STARS SURPASS STARS THE ONES OF YESTERDAY
EXCEPT THE KING OF SLUGFEST WHO REIGNS TO THIS DAY
BORN IN BALTIMORE IN EIGHTEEN NINETYFIVE
BABE'S THE KING OF SLUGFEST HIS MEMORY'S ALIVE
IN THE MAJOR LEAGUE PARKS OF THE BABE'S DAY
CENTERFIELD'S WERE FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY FEET AWAY
BALLFIELDS HAVE SHRUNK TWENTY EIGHT FEET OVERALL
NO WONDER MORE BASEBALL'S GO OVER THE WALL!

Quote: The King of Slugfest Re: Phil Sperazana - The Babe, Bambino, Sultan of Swat. Joe Pickering Jr. decided that the Babe needed another nickname via the take charge vocals of his old buddy Phil Coley. And a great nickname he gave him indeed! What a great tribute to a baseball legend. The legend of Babe Ruth will never die with fans like Joe Pickering Jr. around to keep feeding our memories with music.
11. BASEBALL'S NO LONGER OUR NATIONAL GAME (Roger Eydenberg Singer and Producer © 2012 Time 4:09)
Baseball's no longer our National Game! Politics is! About 100,000,000 Americans who could vote don't. Have they disenfranchised themselves or has the political process disenfranchised them? Politics round the clock floods our lives especially during National Elections. Politics surpasses any other " sport. " Roger Eydenberg sings with drive and determination. Electric and Acoustic Guitars, Drums and Bass are weaved creatively throughout the song. Mrs. Ingrid Small did wonderful creative artwork Enjoy and ponder its message! You are one of the WE THE PEOPLE ! Please read the Chorus and please listen to the song.
BASEBALL'S NO LONGER OUR NATIONAL GAME !!
BASEBALL'S NO LONGER OUR NATIONAL GAME
WHAT GAME'S MORE POPULAR? WHAT'S THE NAME?
POLITICS! 'ROUND THE CLOCK! WHAT A SHAME!
BASEBALL'S NO LONGER OUR NATONAL GAME
12. WILLIE MAYS COME BACK AND PLAY (Danny Mack Singer and Producer © 2010 Time 3:53)
Fifty six years after moving West, the Giants took the World Series trophy to the city by the Bay. The last time the Giants won they were the New York Giants and they played in the New York Polo Grounds. The incomparable Willie Mays was the team leader. Here is an unforgettable song about the Say Hey Kid! Willie Mays can never be forgotten.
Danny has given us a wonderful rendition of the meaning of Willie Mays to America. But, the song's not only about Willie but more about life. The song WILLIE MAYS COME BACK AND PLAY brings us back to the time when there were no drug induced heroes and when it was a joy to watch the joyful Willy Mays play ball. Please read the Chorus then listen and enjoy!
WILLIE MAYS COME BACK AND PLAY!
SAY HEY WILLIE MAYS COME BACK AND PLAY!
TURN BACK THE CLOCK TO YESTERDAY
NO DRUG INDUCED HERO, BASEBALL HERO FOR REAL
HOW YOU PLAYED THE GAME WAS YOUR APPEAL
Quote from Phil Speranza Life time Yankee fan and owner of the oldest Yankee fan site on the Internet www.behindthebombers.com
Willie Mays Come Back and Play
Being a New Yorker living in the legend of some of the greatest centerfielders of all time one can more than appreciate the mark that Willie Mays left on game we love. The author uses the melancholy vocals of Danny Mack to ask Willie to turn back the clock don his uniform and come back and make everything good again. Throw in the honkey tonk sound of this upbeat ditty “How could Willie refuse?” I love Danny Mack’s voice.
13. HEROES DON'T COME BACK (Phil Coley Singer and Producer © 2012 Time: 3:13)
One of the greatest pitchers in the history Bob Feller was also a great World War 2 hero. Once someone said he was a hero, Bob Feller replied, “Heroes Don't come Back!” Phil Coley sings magically giving this song a very special meaning with his soulful voice. Read the Chorus and listen to the song.
Photo credit is given to Sergeant Major Cecil Edwards for the use of his public domain photo on www.army.mil, and always remember their sacrifice.
HEROES DON'T COME BACK
I'M NO HERO, HEROES DON'T COME BACK
BOB FELLER SPOKE THESE WORDS AND THEY WILL LIVE
HIS WORDS STAND FOR ALL HEROES WHO PASS AWAY
HEROES DON'T COME BACK! REMEMBER THEM TODAY!

SOME CLAIM PAUL AND HIS GREAT OX WHOSE TAIL WAS BLUE
BUT PAUL WAS BORN IN BANGOR, MAINE IN 1802
ON A MAP YOU'LL SEE LAKES SIDE BY SIDE IN MAINE
THOSE ARE THE FOOTPRINTS FILLED BY YEARS OF RAIN
THEY LEFT A MARK IN HISTORY LEFT SUCH AN IMPACT
OLE BABE THE BLUE OX PAUL BUNYAN THE LUMBERJACK
Danny Mack created the wonderful artwork for the Paul Bunyan Polka! Thank you!
15.HARRY WORE A BASEBALL CAP (Danny Mack Singer and Producer © 2009 Time 4:46)
Danny Mack sings Harry Wore a Baseball Cap with much feeling and compassion. This is a true story of a young man who wore a Baseball Cap winter, summer, spring, and fall. Please take the time to read the first three verses, then listen to the song. Thank you again Ingrid Small for your creative artwork!
HARRY WORE A BASEBALL CAP
HARRY WORE A BASEBALL CAP, A SHY, GRINNING SMILE
THAT WAS ALWAYS IN SEASON, AND NEVER OUT OF STYLE
HARRY WORE THAT BASEBALL CAP WINTER, SUMMER, SPRING, AND FALL
PEOPLE LIKED TO KID HIM BUT HARRY DIDN'T MIND AT ALL
HARRY WORE THAT BASEBALL CAP MORNING, NOON, AND NIGHT
HE WAS OFTEN NEAR ME BUT KEPT SOME FEELINGS OUT OF SIGHT
SOME SAY THAT HE WAS TROUBLED, A FEW MIGHT SAY INSANE
BUT LET’S FORGET ALL THE LABELS HARRY WAS IN PAIN.
HARRY WORE A BASEBALL CAP COCKED TO ONE SIDE
BUT HIS CAP COULDN’T COVER ALL HIS HURT INSIDE
HARRY PROUDLY CLEANED AND PAINTED WHERE HE COULD
BUT HARRY OFTEN DISAPPEARED IN THE WALLS MADE OF WOOD

Danny Mack sings with great heart, conviction, and compassion.
This song is about courage, love for family, home, and hearth and love of liberty. The song tells the true tale of the plight and great strength of the Acadians to stand up for what they believed despite their suffering that followed. Though Scattered, they survive and thrive today.
The Chorus and the first verse is below:
SCATTERED AND NEAR FORGOTTEN
THE ACADIANS PAINFUL PLIGHT WAS WRITTEN ON THE WINDS
SCATTERED AND NEAR FORGOTTEN WERE THE ACADIANS
AFTER CENTURIES OF SUN, AND SNOW, AND COLD COLD RAIN
THE QUEEN''S APOLOGY COMES THOUGH THE STAIN WILL REMAIN
THE QUEEN MIGHT'VE MEANT IT. SHE MIGH'VE TRULY CARED
BUT WORDS ARE ONLY WORDS. THEY CANNOT BE COMPARED
TO THE LIVES THAT WERE LOST; TO THE FAMILIES TORN APART
ACADIA THEIR BELOVED COUNTRY SUFFERED A BROKEN HEART
18. I'M A COUCH WARRIOR (Al Jackson Singer and Producer © 2011 Time 4:58)
American Patriotism has many varied voices and differing views but only one flag which belongs to all of us. The I'm a Couch Warrior song is about America, Patriotism,America's war policy and America's role in the world. The Couch Warrior supports America's war policy and troops as he sees it. He protests the War Protestors who in turn protest the Wars and U.S. War policies. He questions the value of long ago President Ike Eisenhower's Farewell Address to the Nation and his warning to the American people about the military industrial complex. Later in the song,The Couch Warrior sings of waving our flag and invoking God to protect our troops and toasts them as they bravely fight and sometimes sadly die.
Under the U.S. Constitution, the fundamental role of Congress is to declare war. In the song he makes the point that Congress has not declared war since the World War 2 era. The Couch Warrior asks at the end of the song...Is the Constitution getting in the way??
I'm a Couch Warrior is wonderfully sung by Al Jackson. Al highly creative also arranged and produced the song. Al is the owner of AJ sound and Recording Studios in Bradley, Maine where he writes his own songs and produces hundreds of songs overall. I'M A COUCH WARRIOR I BELIEVE IN THE U.S.A
I DON'T GIVE A DAMN WHAT WAR PROTESTERS SAY
THE WIMPS QUOTE OLD IKE'S FAREWELL ADDRESS
THAT WAS YEARS AGO NOW THE WORLD'S IN A BIGGER MESS
DON'T THOSE WIMPS KNOW FREEDOM ISN'T FREE?
HAVEN'T THEY HEARD OF NATIONAL SECURITY?
19. SANTA'S RED LONG JOHNS (Bob Stamper Singer and Producer © 1993 Time 2:56)
Bob Stamper magically makes Santa's Red Long Johns come alive and sings for anyone to please write a song about him. Christmas snow, the reindeer, the elves and of course Santa himself have been praised in song. Santa's Red Long Johns who keeps Santa's bottom warm and cozy gets no such praise or even recognition. Even after Christmas, Everyone in Santa's village after Christmas gets much praise from Santa for a job well done. Alas Santa's Red Long Johns only ends up in the washing machine for days without one bit of praise. All of you out there give your support to Santa's Red Long Johns!
The song Santa's Red Long Johns was first released by on King Records on Texas Greetings No 8. Compilation CD. WHEN DOWN THE CHIMNEY HE GOES WITH A START?
IT AIN'T THOSE REINDEER HIGH ON THE ROOF
ASK MRS SANTA CLAUS, SHE'LL SHOW YOU PROOF
A Special Note about the late Bob Stamper. Bob was a dear friend to me and all who met him. He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry widely respected for his voice and the quality he gave to his thousands of recordings for thousands of songwriters. Although he lived and breathed music in the Nashville area for years, Bob was born and bred in Chicago, he was a life long Cubbie fan. God Bless him and his family.
20. SANTA CLAUS BE GOOD TO YOURSELF (Phil Coley Producer and Arranger, Jane Baxter Singer © 2010 Time 3:14)
A little girl sits on Santa's lap down at the Mall and sings her concerns to Santa about his health! She worries that his big belly is too big and round. She notices his pipe laying on a table next to him. Even his face and nose are flushed the color of Rudoph Red. Because she is so concerned about him , she tells Santa she doesn't want that dolly after all. This little girl is more focused on helping Santa get back to good health. Jane Baxter gives a delightful singing rendition of that concerned child. Our lives store up memories that sustain us in life. So, I try to write song lyrics that penetrate the heart. Meaningful songs make us think. They make us feel. They make us be. By capturing these memories in song we are all brought together. I have written on many topics about Sports Heroes, baseball, football, and rodeo. Heroes too who have fought in wars or faced discrimination, war and peace, patriotism, love, romance loneliness and redemption and so many other subjects.
The “bible” of the Music Industry, The Green Book of Songs by Subject (www.greenbookofsongs.com), is a resource book which has more than 116,000 songs and album track listings recorded during the past 100 years. Only a small percentage of the songs in their database are ever featured in their Lists of the Week . I am honored by their featuring six of my songs.
Over the decades I've received many letters and quotes on my songs. Former President George H.W. Bush wrote saying the Bushes thoroughly enjoyed my Cowboy Santa songs, apparently, referring to my co-written song with Joe Terry Santa, you're just an Old Texas Cowboy. Mr. Marty Markowitz President of the Brooklyn City Council loved my songs about Ebbets Field, Gil Hodges, and Howlin Hilda. Mrs. Joan Hodges called to express her deep appreciation about my song about her husband. Mr Eddie and Ann Marie Feigner of the world famous King of his Court a four man softball team seen by millions wrote and spoke several times to say they loved my songs about them. U.S. Senator Susan Collins humorously wrote on a photo, “I'm humming your songs in the Halls of Congress.” I haven't se heard her “humming” but one song lyric of The Golden Greek has been reprinted in the U.S. Congressional Record in honor of Harry Agganis one of America's greatest all around athletes. Many members of the Agganis family have spoken and written about my song and how it touched them. The late great John Buck O'Neil praised my songs about the early black baseball players and the discrimination they fought against. Ed Rice the author of the book about the great Louis Sockalexis admired my song about him. Major and award winning sports writers such as the late great Maury Allan gave great quotes on my songs about Ebbets Field and Gil Hodges. Nick Tsiotis author of his great heart felt book about The Golden Greek and Jerrold Casway author of his excellent book Ed Delahanty in the Emerald Age of Baseball admired my songs. The quotes are too many to mention here but, one will suffice.
Sean Holtz of Baseball Almanac (http://www.baseball-almanac.com/) whose comprehensive baseball history site receives more than 40 million hits per month said:
“Honestly Joe, you are to baseball music, what Elvis Presley was to rock and roll. A true pioneer in a field full of controversy staying miles above the rest and creating a path all your own – a path many will try to follow and few will even come close.”
Songs of mine have been in an Emmy award winning HBO film narrated by Ben Affleck, played on national and international networks both radio and television Four of the CD's are in the National Baseball Hall of Fame Sound Library, reprinted in several of Harvey Frommer's Sports Book, and the Toronto Star and other publications including several articles by Juliana L'Heureux in the Maine Sunday Telegram. The Ballad of Paul Bunyan was named the Comedy Song of the Year by the Country Music Association of America. This song is also the official song of the Bangor Chamber Region of Commerce. Finally, Mr. Francois Gauthier the former Consul General of France in Boston wrote in a letter to me, “Listening to If this Rifle Could Talk is a moving experience and your song a beautiful tribute to those who liberated my country from tyranny. France will never forget the sacrifices of those American heroes.” I was deeply touched by Mr. Gauthier’s remarks.
