A gift to rock 'n roll
author: Jeff "Chili Mac" MacMillan
This is perhaps the band with more potential for greatness than I've seen in a long time. If they keep coming up with hits like "Promise me Anything," then they will have a bright future ahead of them. The soft, somber, "1000 miles away," is a tribute to the singer's great voice.
Being a former drummer, I took immediate notice to the powerful beats and creative fills in the melodies. If you can't enjoy the fill at the 41st second of "Promise me anything," then you might want to check your pulse. The price for this EP is a bargain. Finally a band that gets it right, not too overpowering and not too soft.

COLICKY WEEKEND GOODNESS
author: Motor City Rocks
After dropping a series demos since 2003, Detroit rock act Colic celebrates the release of its first legit studio CD with a gig this Friday, June 17th, at the Magic Bag in Ferndale. The band's honed its sound recently, and the loud guitar flare-ups of old have been muted, putting more well-deserved focus on the rhythm section. That's not to say the six-stringers don't still crunch at times, as the riffs, breakdown and guitar solo of "Wake Me Up" follow a ripe rock template. First and foremost, though, the EP is about simplistic, catchy songwriting - best evidenced by sing-along "You Don't Know Why" and pop-radio ready "Away From You." Check out MP3s of EP tracks "Promise Me Anything" and the aforementioned "Wake Me Up" on the band's website. posted by Mister Gary
