Album Notes

"Ain't paybacks swell?"

The Colonel is widely known to radio audiences through his long and distinguished career in broadcasting as news, talk show and music host. The Colonel became known nationally with his many character voices for the book on tape, Those Roaring Riverboat Years, released in 1995. On Santa's Movin' In, the Colonel worked closely with noted Texas musician and producer, Traven Tucker, at Raven-tone studios in Dallas to get just the right effect.

Colonel Mason became inspired to write Santa's Movin' In when he realized that people seemed to have become lax in saying thank you for gifts they received. "After a while, when no gratitude is shown, people get tired of giving gifts," the Colonel realized, "so what if a Santa finally felt that way? Would a Santa just quit working so hard for those who don't appreciate him? Maybe he'd move in with the ingrates and live off them for a change."
