Colors And Light
"Smile"

The CD : Colors And Light "Smile" is an amazing collection of original Melodies, also the result of an international adventure gathering fantastic persons named Mike Porcaro (bass), Oscar Cartaya (bass), Robin Dimaggio (drums), Francois Quillet (Piano, Keys), David Herzhaft (Harmonica), Samuel Garcia (Accordeon), Ross Hogarth (Sound Engineer), ...
and 8 years of perseverance !

Big thanks to Robin Dimaggio :
Paul Simon's second drummer, Steve Gadd being the first. or playing percusions on Diana Ross CD " I love you" .
Big thanks also to Benoit Bechet the Graphic Designer of the Logo" Colors And Light"...Tredmendous Talent!

Why SMILE? Well, Keep your Smile, when difficulties suddenly jump out the Malicious Box is the best way to react and get the strength to achieve your goals.
"Life is too long to live like this" says Ricky Skaggs.
So feel the amazing power of love and forgiveness is better than to keep anger or to feed day after day any kind of hate...
The best has to come!

Tr #1 : Louisiane (F. Quillet, R.Dimaggio, Dr; O. Cartaya, Bass;)

This piano song has been composed during a night in a Music Club of Montpellier (France), based on the 1,3,5 of a chord. simple construction , major chord arpeggios.
the name came from two impressive trips, visiting Louisiana (USA) in 1993 and 1997 and at the same time a tribute to the truly inspiring and inspired bassist Anne-Louise.
You will be impressed by Oscar Cartaya, powerful Bass line and solo and Francois Quillet virtuosity...

Tr #2 : Baby Cakes ( F. Quillet, Keys; O. Cartaya, Bass; R.Dimaggio, Dr; )
Inspired by Joe Zawinul "Black Market" using the Bb pentatonic.
This song (french Lyrics) originally created with the 4tet Colors and Light with Christine Flowers (Samuel Devauchelle-Dr, Jean Bertrand Carbou-Bass, Christine Flowers-Vocal, Pascal Coriu-guit) Lyrics by Christine Flowers. Funny story. This is definetely a soft version.

Tr #3 : The Cat "Beethoven" ( F. Quillet, Keys;O. Cartaya, Bass ; R.Dimaggio, Dr;)
This one is the Black cat! Totally independant, rarely happy, A grumpy Cat!
Francois Quillet met this special cat during 4 years, "Scared about anything and at the same time Majestically proud of himself, Strong, someone that you wished to be friend, unfortunately Beethoven didn't share the same enthousiasm.
David Herzhaft fit perfectly the mental of such felinistic behavior, He performs here an unbelievable prestation, full of "multi-melodies", International talent, feelings, virtuosity on a diatonic Harmonica, witch seems hard to believe, wrapped in an overide effect.

Tr #4 : Smile ( F. Quillet, Keys; Mike Porcaro, Bass; R. Dimaggio, Dr;)

This famous melody has a Background full of kids and adults talking all the time, they laugh loudly at the end , letting the nostalgic music melt in a Huge Smile...something funny happened to the artist...Maybe Lady Luck just came in! Mike Porcaro plays the Bass, we had never heard before such a powerful bass line and quality of Sound , Mike is absolutely a Music Master whom everybody would like to work with and learn from.

Tr #5 : Kids ( F. Quillet, Keys; O. Cartaya, Bass; R. Dimaggio, Dr; )
This song has been composed at the ARC 1600 ; Famous Winter Resort in France (Bourg Saint-Maurice, Alpes) at "l'Abreuvoir", cafe-concert.. Created the first time by Daniel Solia, Dr; Patrick Mirales, Guit; Dominique Dipiazza, Bass; Francois Quillet, Piano;
Then Recorded with Francois Quillet, pno; Victor Johns, Dr; Philippe Petrucciani, Guit; Dominique Dipiazza, Bass.
You'll enjoy the solidity of the bass Line and the beautiful melody at the entrance of Oscar's Solo.

Tr #6 : Helena ( F. Quillet, Keys; O. Cartaya, Bass; R. Dimaggio, Dr; )
Helena is the name of an angel , also the Francois Quillet's best friend name at the Schola Cantorum ( France) ( Helene Thanos; Painter/Artist-Famous for the" HAM" session in her Kitchen, ave Foch Paris)
Long melody composed in one take at the Upright Acoustic Piano during his Visions sessions in Sete (south of France). See CD01 and CD02 Little Pianistic Prophecies.

Tr #7 : Sonate #6 Jean-Sebastien Bach ( S. Garcia, Accordeon; F. Quillet, Piano )
is a Challenge for the Piano since Right and Left hands play at 2 Octaves this difficult but fantastic and beautiful Melody and the synchronisation with Sam is at the highest level for the best result!
Answers and Questions are the Game of that Masterpiece, revealing 400 years earlier few principles of the Fractals

Tr #8 : Rap on Jazz, ( F. Quillet, Keys; O. Cartaya, Bass; R. Dimaggio, Dr; Jay Gore; Guit).
Based on the Composer/Drummer Daniel Solia's rythmic idea (the low note of the octave game at the beguining of the song is the kick, the high note the snare) Amazing Drumer and composer Daniel Solia plays also with Marcia Maria, Dominique Dipiazza, Michel Perez... Rap on Jazz is a reaction in 1990 at the Jazz "Cliche" ...Rearranged with Colors and light (France) with Christine Flowers .
Now this new version is more acoustic and less sophisticated. Pure and Simple
Oscar Cartaya put a new bass line, what a great energy , Awsome!!!

Tr #9 Laurie ( F. Quillet, Keys; O. Cartaya, Bass; R. Dimaggio, Dr; )
Composed at the age of 17 in Paris, Francois Quillet reserved to name that song till the Birth of his daughter, Laurie.
The most amazing person, talented and gifted.
A perpetual source of inspiration for his father...
The melody, nostalgic at the beguinning turns in an enlightment ending.

Tr #10 The Cat "Gratzky" ( F. Quillet, Keys; O. Cartaya, Bass ; R. Dimaggio, Dr;)
Named "The Wisdom", Unfortunately Gratzky died with Kidney complication in 2005...this Cat has been the Francois Quillet's best friend during 2 years , He died peacefully in Elise and Francois Quillet 's arms .
Unfortunately Gratzky shared the same space with the Cat "Beethoven" :
He probably died also because of the perpetual Beethoven's attacks .

Tr #11 Pacific . ( F. Quillet, Keys; Mike Porcaro, Bass; R. Dimaggio, Dr;)
Fantastic universe of sound providing by the double Mike Porcaro's electric Basses .
Pacific should have been the title of the album. Living in Los Angeles for good, Francois Quillet has been impressed by the Magnifiscence of the Pacific Ocean , not to mention the symbolic message of Peace ...The music has been composed by Francois quillet and Inspired by Peter Erskine ( Album: Motion Poet, song "Not a Word") Tribute to the beautiful story with the International Singer and Beautiful Christine Flowers.

Tr #12 Helena v. 1998. Composed by the visitation of an Angel named Helena . You will notice the amazing guitar part of Marc Jonhatan Cohen, Francois Richome (dr), Jean luc Mirault (Bs), Alex Auge (Sax) .

Track #13 is a bonus track, has been written in december 2003 and recorded in one take at the Piano for the love of F. Quillet 's wife, Elise Quillet .
This is the best answer and gift to the Saint-Valentine's Day on the 13th February 2008 and 2009...
ELISE without an " i " is someone ELSE.
Lightly orchestrated...Piano solo alone does exist.
the sheet music is available too.
The music expresses the Serenity and Joy of an Extraordinary "Rencontre" then , the acceleration of events and its ordeals...
At 3 times the same nostalgic phrase will come back , then the 4th part is ending by a beautiful major chord picturing a perfect harmony between the two lovers even after a painful and eternal separation...
