Album Notes

Colwell’s co-founders are cousins Clayton & Jeb Colwell.  Long time best friends and bandmates, these two have been a songwriting team since their early teens, and were the brains and inspiration behind their formers bands Hector on Stilts and Freakwent Flyahs.  The cousins are carrying on a family heritage of music for the masses.  Their fathers were the co-founders and songwriters for the 1960’s Pepsodent-fresh glee club, Up With People, who were performing at Super Bowl halftimes before Janet Jackson got her first training bra.  The senior Colwells passed onto Clayton and Jeb a legacy of people-pleasing music and an unending fondness for the sweeter, nougaty, “poppier” side.

Colwell possesses a unique talent of quick wit and comic sensibility. The 9-song, 27-minute "Hunker Down" is a mix of bright vocal harmonies, pop beats, layered synthesizers, and catchy poetic twists on every day situations. It’s all love expressed in “Taxi”, (a co-write with ex-Men At Work frontman Colin Hay), twisting a look into an early morning commute with “Hot People”, then onto the unexpected, uninvited but not necessarily unwelcomed nocturnal visit of a randy flatmate in the YouTube single “Nite Atak” where lasers shot by dolled-up warrior princesses turn their victims into loveable teddy bears. Careful: one shot of Hunker Down may leave you feeling all soft, warm and fuzzy.
