* "carnival calliopes, decadent lounge, hints of Kurt Weill colliding with Frank Zappa and The Roches." -- Goldmine
Formed in the fall of 2001, The Coma Savants (formerly Your Mom and Your Mom SRO) are a garage-cabaret-circus-rock band known for their high energy theatrical shows. The Coma Savants were founded by Stephanie Rearick and Jon Hain, owners of Mother Fool's, Madison's independent coffeehouse and east-side cultural hub.
Stephanie Rearick, the band's principal writer, is respected as a virtuosic pianist. She writes separately for her solo work and her band in order to explore different sides of her musical personality.
Rearick's musical career has branched in many directions over the last couple years. She performed Microtonal Piano concerts with American composer Jeff Kowalkowski at DePaul and in Madison, scored 2 1/2 hour 1924 silent film L'Inhumaine for the UW's Cinematheque program, and recently made her debut performance on trumpet, voice, and looping machine. In May 2003 she was the featured musician at Estrogen Fest, a Chicago Women's theater program.
Rearick's sophomore solo release, The Bucket Rider, is due out late this Spring on Hain and Rearick's Uvulittle Records. It is self-recorded and produced, and showcases her newer solo work and some of the pieces from the film L'Inhumaine.
Rearick and The Coma Savants have been a hit on college and alternative radio stations across North America, as well as spinner.com.
Joey Zarda has been active in the Madison music scene for the better part of the last decade, recording and performing with Your Mom SRO, Swimming Pool Blue, and Mighty Vumba.
Jason Socha dabbles in theatre and web design in addition to drumming in The Coma Savants.

* The Midwest Ursine says, "this is great, cabaret nouveau music that is meant to bring back the fun in music."
