Album Notes

Concrete Blonde's first album not only entered the Billboard Top 100, but it also generated 3 singles: "Still In Hollywood", "Dance Along The Edge," and "True." Amazing accomplishment for a debut album.

This CD is as vital today as is was when it was first released in 1986. Even more so now that Superfecta is reissuing this album digitally remastered with expanded packaging and lyrics.

Futhermore, noted journalist Kevin Couch has compiled new liner notes based on a 2004 interview with Johnette Napolitano and James Mankey in which they discuss the band's early years - a topic that has rarely been seen in print.

Twelve tracks in all, including the non-album cut "It'll Chew You Up And Spit You Out," an alternate version of "Still In Hollywood" with new lyrics.

they picked up where the pretenders left off and even more raw and emotional. johnette's voice is epic and soulful galore. i used to sing along to her before i even thought i could start my own band, which is right here on cdbaby now, Girl Without Fear. not self promoting, really giving it up to Concrete Blonde. They are CONCRETE LEGENDS !!

I wore the mylar on the tape cassette of this album down till it shone. Johnette's aching vocals were a huge influence on me and the band is on my top ten list of all time. Buy this cd ... listen till your ears bleed and it becomes part of your soul.

I Will be forever greatful to the Universe for showing me the way to Concrete Blonde. Even if it is 2006 and they aren't playing together at the moment. What an awesome sound. Words and music are still relevant.
