Conetik is a Norwegian duo that started our around the turn of the millennium with an idea of blending rhythmic electronic music with rock influenced vocals. In the years to follow, the concept has gone through a lot of changes, bringing the music from a harder—bordering on industrial—sound, to a softer and more pop oriented sound. While their sound is now less industrial, they have never lost the original nerve in the music.
If you listen carefully, you will find references to everything from early 80s synthpop to the current chart toppers; somewhere in between it all, you find Conetik. While they’re always experimenting with innovative production and sound, they maintain their roots in a melancholic pop tradition. This is music both for the dance floor, and for listening to alone.
Conetik’s lyrics move in landscapes where a sense of alienation and fragmentary histories of loss and despair are the key components.
Rumor has it that Conetik is really a group consisting of up to four androids and/or robots, but the truth of these stories have yet to be established.
