David Conforte has written a musical score for HOLLYWOOD ROSE, a play set in 1949 that is for all music lovers but especially those that miss the golden years of Broadway and Hollywood musicals. It contains "Big Band Swing, Pop and Latin music" that is reminiscent of the days when the late James Cagney was the King of Hollywood and it is dedicated to his memory. Though James Cagney never actually said those exact words in any movie, "Take That You Dirty Rat!" was written as a special tribute to him and is sung in the play by a leading character named "Cags" O'Brien who enjoys using Cagney's tough guy personna to intimidate people. HOLLYWOOD ROSE is the first of 3 two-act musical plays entirely composed by David Conforte including the libretto. The other two musicals are THERE FOR YOU and THE CAMEO KID. This album also contains "All I Ever Dream About Is You", a song from THERE FOR YOU (#15).
